That means the stuff you're attempting to take isn't important. There are some objects in the rooms but most aren't accessible at the start.

How can you 'use' whatever you can collect in your inventory

Try typing 'use <item>', of course

Also, we can enter all the shower/bathrooms, but can we do anything in there?Ã,  I could only 'use' my shower.Ã,  There must be a reason why we can enter these rooms

Okay, I haven't played the game in a while but I think I remember the solution to this puzzle. Warning, full solution ahead.

I'm not sure if the guard walks around randomly, but make sure that the guard is on the top of stairs (if that's even possible ). Then you have to use the fruit on the machine, the character should put the fruit rolling towards the machine. Then quickly hide into the shadows. Now the guard should walk down the stairs, and next to where the machine is. Now while she is distracted, sneak behind her, and use knife on her.

Okay I played that puzzle, and it appears that the guard doesn't need to be on the top of the stairs when you put the fruit rolling. You just have to get so close the machine that you can see it on the screen.

OK. THANKS. I finally killed the first guard.

Now I opened the first door with card (could not do anything with left door).Ã,  I am now facing 2nd guard.

You've noticed that the blinking machine starts alarming when you walk near it, right? And then the guard notices you. Have you noticed that you can walk into the shadows in the very same room?

Yes I tried that also (shadow next to stairs) but when I get further in shawdow, the guard always notices me

Have you look through the hole in the wall to see the slot where you put the crucifix.Ã,  Have you entered the other part of the crypt to find the symbols etched into the wall?

I look at the wall, saw the slot for crucifix. 

I did not enter the other part of the crypt to find symbols.

That could be was is missing.

I did stop playing because I could not concentrate anymore, since I played non-stop since you gave me the walkthru to the computer and the blood stain and the Satan's book.

Thanks again.  I will go back in the crypt and see if that was the missing link to get the crucifix from the other room

Thank you Miryoku and Cittymom.Ã,  Ã, I have managed to play the game all the way through the entrance/door in the crypt.

Once inside, I have lit the left torch.Ã,  Now I'm supposed to 'move it', but I CAN'T.Ã,  Ã, I have walked down, saw the engraving of the crucifix, then I should move lever on the right side, go get crucifix from where the chair was, but when I get there and try to get crucifix, it says 'I don't need it'.Ã, 

I'm sure that the reason is because I could not move the left torch.

Can someone tell me how to move that torch

I downloaded the original release from the same link as the one that's currently up.Ã,  I'm not sure if the game was updated or changed in anyway - I was just speculating that it might have been.

****UPDATE***:
I just completed the symbol matching part.Ã,  I include a detailed walkthrough from the crime scene to the computer match:

- look at everything in the room (robe, bed, window, knife, body, blood at victim's neck, and the blood on the wall) - you can also click the hand icon on everything to perform a more thorough search if you want but you won't pick anything up
- take photo of blood on wall
- return to apartment and scan photo of blood stain into the computer.Ã,  Click the "hand" icon on the "magnifying glass" button and click on the bottom right part of the photo to zoom in (be sure that you actually click your "hand" icon on the "magnifying glass" button in the computer program rather than just clicking your "magnifying glass" icon directly on the photo as this will only "look" at the photo rather than actually "magnify" the symbol)
- this brings up a close-up of the symbol in blood
- exit and get the book on satanism on the shelf
- look at the book & look at the symbol (your character will then comment that it looks similar to the blood symbol but you need the computer for a match)
- re-scan the photo of the blood stain into the computer and zoom into the close-up again
- scan the book into the computer
- click the "hand" icon on the "M" button to perform the match

After that, this should allow you to access parts of the game that you couldn't before.Ã,  Let me know if you're still having trouble.

Ã,  Ã,  I re-downloaded the game again and have had crash after crash. But,Ã,  I did make it to the computer and I wrote down the steps that worked for me in matching the images.Ã,  Ã,  Ã, My steps are "almost" idential to miryoku's description.Ã,  Ã, Only slight differences.Ã,  Ã, Maybe between the steps miroku has described and mine,Ã,  you will get it to work for you.

Look at book before starting computer.
Click and turn on computer.
Open grafics sofware program.
Click A (aquire source)....Ã,  Select camera.
Enlarge blookstain.Ã,  LOOK at bloodstain.
Open inventory and LOOK at book,Ã,  then LOOK at image/symbol in book.Ã,  Ã,  Text says something like "I'm going to make the matching with the computer"
Exit the book.
Re-open the graphics program on computer.
Click A again and select camera again.
Click A again and select book.
Two images should appear.
Magnify/enlarge blood stain's "hotspot"
Click the "M" -Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  should say matching done!

I thank you so much for all the trouble you gave yourself to help me out.

It is now 01:15 am and I need to get some sleep.  I will try again later on in the day and I will let you know if it works. 

From your message, I just noticed something different than the previous hints.  That is: to scan photo AND THEN go and get the book from bookcase.....before I always went to get the book and then went to computer and use the camera and TRIED to look at picture from book.  THAT COULD VERY WELL BE 'THE' DIFFERENCE/PROBLEM 

So once again thank you very much.  I will definitely let you know if it works or not.

Actually, I deleted the original release once I finished the game.Ã,  So I downloaded the current version which I'm assuming is the same one that you have.Ã,  I'll play it sometime over the next couple of days, and I'll let you know if I'm able to complete that puzzle.

That's very odd that it is not working.Ã,  Ã,  I will try re-downloading and replaying the game tomorrow so see if I have any problems.Ã,  I remember that I downloaded one of the first versions of the game, so perhaps if the file was altered in some way since then this may be a new bug.

I believe you will find the answers you need 

I think there is only one book that you get from the bookshelf in the TV room.Ã,  Have you looked at the actual book, and clicked "look" on the actual picture of the symbol?Ã,  Have you tried clicking the book on the blood hotspot back at the murder scene?Ã,  I think your character will comment that they look similar but you will have to do a more thorough analysis to make sure.Ã,  This should trigger you to be able to scan the book into the computer.
