General Discussion / Re: Good pay Webspace?

Globat have pretty good prices and always have some offer going, at the moment it's $1.99 p/m for the first year with 5gb of space and 75gb bandwidth.

he's right arm must go forward when his right leg goes back.

I'm not quite sure what you mean ??? His right arm does go forward when his right leg goes back (and did in the previous versions)... Maybe I've misunderstood.

Anyway, thank you for the kind words. I'm pretty happy with it as it's the first animation I've done (that kinda showed from my previous attempts I think :) )

Just got around to changing the limbs and kinda got carried away and it ended up as a swagger / strut . I can't decide if it looks good though:

Alias: A walk cycle is only two steps - one with each foot - so, in my opinion,  it's best to leave out things like blinking because nobody (or monkey :) ) blinks every two steps... At least not that I've witnessed  ;)

Mats: I'll get on it later today.

DG: That would be 100% perfect if the monkey would blink, Great work guys!  ;)

Thanks. I think a blink in an eight frame walkcycle wouldbe too repetitive though, maybe for an idle animation...

I agree, Floskfinger he does look like a bloke in a suit. I think my version needs longer arms and more bend in his limbs. Mats asked me to loosen up the tail, which I did in this edit:

But he could deffinately use an injection of monkeyness.

thanks to dg for the help!

Glad I could help, Mats.

Just coz I had some free time today I thought I'd see what I could do with this walkcycle... Here's the result:

I played around with positions of his arms and legs in the original version but in the end just went with eight frames instead of six. I made a few other changes as well, he's a bit lighter brown now and I moved his ear forward a couple of pixels... maybe something else too but I can't remember.

It's not great but it's okay so I thought I'd share it.

He looks like he's standing to attention at the moment, a more relaxed pose (like ProgZmax's paintover) would look better imho.

I have Adobe ImageReady and it can only have animation files in psp files

I used ImageReady to animate it. If you chose "Save Optimized As" (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+S) instead of "Save As" then you can save as a gif.

And about the tail, I'm still not sure but I don't know exactly what's wrong with it or how to fix that.

I think there should be less movement in the tail, at the moment (in the animated version) it looks like it's going 'round in a circle. It would probably look better if it just kinda swayed from side to side in time with the footsteps.

A quick p/o of the front view with some generic green stains :P

One thing I noticed is that his feet look exactly the same in the front and back views which looks really wierd.

Edit: Never mind, you already noticed :)

Edit 2: Looking at it again I've made him look kinda wierd and podgy  :-\

Hope you don't mind Mats...

There's a bit of a problem with his legs from frames 1 to 2 and frames 4 to 5 but other than that he's looking pretty good apart from the tail, but you already know about that.

Any chance of an animated version? It would be good to see him in full flow.
I think his arm in the still view (the last pose) should be closer to his body... it looks kinda odd at the moment.

Also, monkeys use their tails for balance when they're climbing trees etc but that's when they use all four limbs. I don't know how the tail would move with Crispy using two legs.

Here are a few more along the same lines:

inimical
oppugnant
pernicious

Might not be quite what you're after but how about deleterious or malefic?

Am I right in thinking that this room is based on a screenshot from The Sims 2?
The perspective in the picture appears to be wrong because the vertical lines in the picture (door, window, wardrobe etc) need to be vertical, not tilted as they are now.

The bright blue wardrobe doesn't really fit with the pink-y theme of the room, maybe a wood colour similar to the bed would look better.

Also some parts of the pic have black outlines but others don't, which kinda clashes. It would look better if the whole image either did or didn't use black outlines. Personally I think it would look better without.

"your grammar is abysmal": what does this meaN?

In that sense abysmal means very bad (i.e. "Your grammar is very bad")

PayPal's shop features are free (there are the usual fees for recieving money though of course).
You have to set up the "add to cart" buttons for each item you want to sell individually so it can take a bit of time if you have a lot of different things to sell.

There is software to make the process easier. http://www.online-store.co.uk/explorer5.html. I think that's the right program but I'm not sure...

Anyone else want in the hat?  I'll pick two winners tomorrow.

Could you put my name in the hat? I've heard a fair bit about the game and I'd be very interested in playing it.

I would part with the cash but I'm a student (and so completely skint  :P )

Critics' Lounge / Re: Bathroom C&C

Here's a few things I would change:

- The shower - I have to agree about this, to me it looks more like a big fridge than a shower.
- I don't think the light switch would be that close to the shower (the little game people might fry themselves :) )
- Bathroom windows are usually kind of fuzzy (can't think of the right word) so people can't look in.
- Also it looks like you've missed out a line on the floor (tiles are uneven at the moment)

Anyway, enough of the crits. I like the subtle reflections on the floor... maybe this could be used for the mirror as well.
