I finished played through the deluxe edition last night. I have to say it was very impressive. I liked the voice acting and I have no complaint about Ben's voice. Let's face it guys, he's not exactly the Dirty Harry type. And it his first case and all, he would lack confidence. I think it fit his appearence. Can't wait for number 6!!!

Yes, it is a quote from a Beatles song. And the title of the song is my handle. And to let everyone know I am still writting a design document for my idea. It is quite involved and requires a lot of detail so it will take some time......

Does anyone know of any game design engines to create a strictly text based adventure game??? Just wondering.......

Well, it's like this..... some of us didn't have the luxury of having graphical adventures at first. They just didn't exsist. Sooooo, at that time if you wanted to play an adventure game it was text and that was that. I personally consider Zork to be one of the best adventure games ever. And when I say adventure, I mean adventure, I would hardly consider Zork an IF game.

Renal shutdown: Why don't you find someone else to abuse. It's not I like asked YOU for anything. So I don't know why you are so angered.

To everyone else who has viewed this thread and has not been a total jerk about it, I am going about this a more logical way by writting a design document. So therefore I am formally withdrawing my request for assistance. When I finish the doc. I will then post for help in a different thread. Thank you.

I didn't have a model of a design document to follow (or before I say follow and get blasted for using the term "follow") or should I say as a guideline.... lol

I am in the process of writting a design document but it will take some time to do it throughly and well enough that it might entice others to take up any interest..... So I am doing more then running off at the mouth. So take it easy on me. lol

P.S. I am not twisting anyones arm, phew, gimme a break, just kicking around an idea. No need to get hostile about it.

Well, I sampled the game out and I do have a lot of issues with it.....

1. There are no hot spots, every thing is a pixel hunt.

2. The walk cycle is extremely slow.

3. The entrances and exits are very poorly defined.

4. Very limited locations and things to interact with.

5. Conversations are limited and repetitive.

6. The game was not very interesting.

Sorry for the complaints but just letting you know what I think.....

I'm very surprised that no one mentioned Zork. Maybe everyone else just isn't quite that old. But the orginal Zork was a great game done in all text. The parser understood a lot of different verbs and nouns. Still though I do perfer the graphic adventures but to me it doesn't really matter if they are point and click or made with a text parser......as long as the parser is reasonably flexible. Trilby's Notes was done quite well with the text parser. So I guess like others mentioned, I don't really care either way as long as the game keeps my interest and well written.

I have a really good concept for an adventure game. The only problem is I can't draw backgrounds, compose music or do any scripting or anything of that like. I just have the idea and the title "Catostrophica". The story would take place about 100 years in the future. A comet will impact Earth and cause mass destruction and havoc. (The comet impacting Earth would make for a really awesome cut scene). Then the main character would be a female scientest that is on a mission to save the planet from mass extiction. I have plenty of further storyline concepts and puzzle ideas...... But obviously I will need a lot of people to work on the project with me. Someone to do art, someone to do music and someone to scripting and other technical stuff. I am willing to commit a lot of time to the project anyone else interested please respond to this post. I would also welcome plot ideas, puzzle imput, dialogue help, and character creation. I know this all sounds very vague and it is just a raw concept but I think I can make this thing work with the right help. Although it would require lots of time and effort. So what does everybody think!?!?!

Well, I thought the graphics were decent, story line seems promising, but there was something that was just not really holding my interest.... although I don't really know why..... maybe I'll come up with the reason soon....

AGS Games in Production / Re: Reactor 9

Hey Bernie..... This game looks like it is going to be great! The graphics are most reminescent of the ones from Cedric and The Revolution. Which i thought had really nice backgrounds and good animation. I have a bad habit (yours is not completing games that you are making) of not finishing AGS games that I start playing! LOL!!! I find that a lot the games that I download don't hold my interest, so I hope this will not be the case with this fine looking game. I am glad to know that the game may be a little shorter then most people would like but that the game won't be filled with illogical puzzles and pointless conversations just to make the game longer (I've found this to be true with a lot of AGS games). Keep up the good work and don't enjoy that summer too much, you have work to do.....

Another game that looks most promising.... I will definitly add to my must d/l list when it is completed. I have been around the AGS forums for quite a long time now and have finally decide to become vocal. I hope that nobody minds. I have downloaded and played a lot of AGS games and have found that mordalles projects are usually of the highest quality. This game looks no different. Also, how did you come up with 23% of the game done apposed to saying a nice round number like 25%??? lol

I have not yet got around to commenting on this game but it looks most promising. I am eagerly awaiting the realease of a demo for this great looking game. On another note, has there been any music added to the game at this point? I was wondering if you are planning on writting original music or using music that is already written. Just curious.....

I didn't really thing that things were unclear. I really enjoyed playing the game and I think it was really well made. I actually got through it with out having to get any hints about what to do. So YAY me!!!! Keep making great games like this one and hopefully a little bit longer.....
