Thank you, everyone. Sorry I couldn't make it - I did try to dip in at the end, but failed miserably.

Very exciting.

Crumbs, 'greatest AGS achievmement yet' feels a bit grandiose! ;)

Getting on Steam is awesome, and massively exciting. :D

I genuinely worked longer and harder getting that icon right than I probably should have. :)

Hello! Thanks for all your support everyone - hope all of you that bought TGP have enjoyed it. Thought some of you might be interested in some of the lovely press the game's been getting.

There's a ton of links to reviews here, including Eurogamer's glowing 9/10 and Wired's description of it as an 'indie masterpiece'. PCZone recently gave it 90% and a Classic Award, and PCGamer gave it 87%. We're also in IGN's 'Top Games of 2009 So Far', which is exciting news. There's more to come in the next month or so, too...

So all going very well so far. Not a millionaire quite yet, I'm afraid. Sorry, this post just sounds like horrendous showboating now, I didn't really intend that.

Yay! Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)

There's something extra doubly exciting about seeing something in proper print. Thanks Humbolt!

LOVING the game so far, guys, just had a weird bug to report:

Spoiler
If you use the glasses on the pig to set it on fire twice, they loop through the whole "Hoorah, it worked!" bit again, but instead of showing the caveman guard changing to the nerd guard, it warps back to Dan and Ben falling into the trapdoors outside the warehouse at the beginning.  Then it goes back to the outside-warehouse room, only you can't see Ben and Dan.
[close]

This has been addressed; the latest cut won't do that. Drop me a line if you want it, but your save games won't carry across. Sorry!

:S

Thanks Angel Dust! Most kind!

Don't forget to fill in the game's AGS page, everyone! There's voting and comments and stuff to do, if you get a sec.

;)

Cheers,

D

Thanks Steve. That issue has been fixed in the most recent release - I'm happy to re-activate your download if you like, just send me an email.

Paid my monies, downloading now!  Woohoo! :)  Congrats on the release, guys!

ALSO: Strange Visitor cameos in it, as Mr. Blow the Sexual Education Clown, and should have received a free copy, but I got caught up in the release and forgot.

SORRY SV! I'll make it up to you with a pint, one day ;)

Time Gentlemen, Please!, the sequel to last year's Ben There, Dan That! is  out now.

There's a free demo for you to sample, but the whole thing costs a whopping £2.99/ $5ish, for reasons explained on the game page. That’s about the same as a pint of frothing Lion’s Roar Real Ale in an overpriced London Boozer, which isn’t much really for several hours of joyous gameplay.

If you donated anything to Ben There, Dan That! then for heaven’s sake whatever you do don’t buy a copy: there’s one waiting for you free of charge in your email inbox.

Featuring stuff and bits by The Forgetful Elephant's own 'Lemmy and Binky' and some glorious art from lovely Mashpotato, PARTICLE EFFECTS and everything by Nickenstein, a full soundtrack, and some adorable puzzles. It's longer than Ben There, Dan That!, with better puzzles and sheen and all sorts.

It's stated on the gamepage, but worth reiterating:

Q: Does Time Gentlemen, Please! contain any naughty swears?
A: Time Gentlemen, Please! was designed and written as an adventure game for grown-ups. As such, it contains all the naughty swears, and contains adult themes. If that sort of thing isn’t your cup of tea, or if you’re a tiny child, TGP isn’t for you :)

Other than that: enjoy, hopefully :)

EDIT: the AGS game page is now set up, here.

QuoteI meant the shortcut file on the desktop or whereever it was created by Innosetup. Didn't you mentioned the problem only appear when the shortcut created by Innosetup is used?

Yeah, this is exactly what's happening. Double-click is fine, a shortcut to the .exe generated by the installer causes a crash on the first instance of Wait(20);

I'm not sure what you can get out of it, really, but the shortcut's here.

Any help would be much appreciated...

EDIT: Also, if I copy-paste that shortcut to the desktop, I get a CrashInfo, which is here.

EDIT: aha! By comparing and contrasting two shortcut links, it seems that adding Start In: "C:\Program Files\Time Gentlemen, Please!" to the generated link means it runs swimmingly.

EDIT: as such, this is clearly nothing to do with AGS, sorry and thaaaaaaanks!

Not quite sure what you mean - but actually on further investigation, it's obviously something InnoSetup's doing  - if I use AdvancedInstaller it packages up fine.

The Innosetup versions got more and more tempramental the more I fiddled with them (to the degree that not even a double-click would launch it).

So, is there something in the way that InnoSetup is compressing the files that AGS disagrees with, maybe?

I've used InnoSetup to package up my game.

If the .exe in /Program Files/GameDir is double clicked, it runs fine.

If the shortcut generated by InnoSetup is used, the game boots up but crashes on (seemingly) the first blocking event. A custom shortcut has the same effect.

Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on this, while I struggle with it this end.
