I think the only version of Simon The Sorceror I played WAS a demo - never got around to getting the full thing as I recall.

So I'm sure it's bound to be out there somewhere for you Ginster.

And while I think about it....I'm sure the full version is out there somewhere for ME.....

*goes a searching for another Christmas present*

Sounds like Thomas hasn't seen the episode with zvarily in it....

Kirsten Dunst accidentally revealed in an interview that there are two badguys in the next Spider-man movie: Venom & Sandman.

Personally I thought Sandman was a bit obscure, & I'm not sure how Harry will fit into it all, but I hope Sam can pull a greta movie out of the bag again.

The actors for both parts were also revealed, but I cannot remember them at the moment. I'd google, but I'm afraid I'm in a rush.

n17tty!

I remember you. Welcome back man!

He also made the front page of Weebl's Stuff, I was actually about to come on & post the very same topic with that revelation.

I'm willing to believe in any theory that has a Pink Floyd album cover!

...

I didn't read it all by the way.

...

But you could probably guess that.

Personally I'll be celebrating Festivus this year.

We tried celebrating Festivus last year, on the 23rd (?) I believe.

It didn't end too well...not that you'd expect it to I guess.

I agree wholeheartedly.

Think if the situation were reversed, if a Christian complained at...say...some Hanukkah decorations in an office (admittedly a relatively popular religion I've chosen there, first that sprang to mind), saying they were offensive in some way, it would be the Christian who would be attacked for his comments, and would be accused of denial of expression, so why is the reverse not true?

*sigh* This society. It's supposed to be all about religious, or racial, or sexual equality, but frankly people have it all wrong. In my opinion, equality is about accepting differences between cultures, but in cases like this people seem more intent on ignoring differences.

I'm gonna celebrate what I can. I doubt anyone will ACTUALLY be offended if I put up some Christmas decorations, it's just more protection of what could (but never will) be said among extremely religious groups.

This year a group of friends & I have considered celebrating EVERY holiday possible (be it Christmas, Divali, Thanksgving, Mardi Gras, Chinese New Year or even International Talk Like a Pirate Day) just for the hell of it anyway. Not neccessarily a celebration of our beliefs, but more a celebration of accepting the beliefs & customs of others.

I was looking through my old hard drive & I found this, which was an entry of mine for a Photoshop Phriday a couple of years ago I believe:

Not an entry.

the 2nd is small and not very nicelooking!!!! ::) :-X :'( :=

I think the second one is supposed to look very simplistic, as the idea behind the Quick Quest Qrew was to make short, simple games in a short time without all the bells & whistles. Thus, I think the second one is much more suitable.

As for the bit under the name, in game it could be possible to change it so it's random - in theory could be different each time you bring it up (unless "ninja + pirate = lumberjacks" is soem in-joke I am not aware of...).

An animation could be fun, might be interesting to try & see how it works out.

Does anyone remember that guy called frenchy?

Hehe, yeah, I remember that guy, & how he semed awfully similar to RPGMaker (or whatever his name was....maybe it was the other way around). Didn't he release a very brief demo? I think his heart was in it, but he just didn't realise his own limitations. Shame really. It happens a lot, but not on this scale. If you're gonna overshoot, you might as well do it from a HUGE distance...

I miss DGMacphee & Pessi being regular posters, & even some of the other "oldbies" who are still around, but not as much as they used to be...

The best April Fools joke to date was the "RealUltimatePower" main page that DG mocked up & CJ replaced the normal page with. I didn't get the reference at the time & I still loved it.

The older confrontations (Helm & Yufster? Darth Mandarb & Squinky?) seem quite funny today, as they tended to just get off on the wrong foot - everyone's bestest buds now, obviously (DM & Squink worked on a game together did they not?)

Ooh, and the newsbots! They were awesome & need a ressurection at some point! Those threads are still awesome to browse years after (dear god I hope they're still in the system...)!

Monkey Wrench was the most awesome game that was ever due to exist. Or close to that. An amazing looking project it was. Do a search on the forums for it - the GiP thread may still exist.

EDIT: damn, a quick search indicates it's lost. Any chance of an update/repost of those old screenies, Snake/Squink?

General Discussion / Re: I need more music!

Could I recommend this to you?:

http://pandora.com/

Not a band, a website. Basically you put in band(s) you like and it'll play some of their stuff, along with other selected music of a similar style from bands you may not know so well. It's not always great, but sometimes can be bang on the money.

As for bands I personally like:

Led Zeppelin
Foo Fighters
Queens Of The Stone Age
Nirvana
RHCP
Pink Floyd
The Subways
Cream
Derik & The Dominoes
Kyuss
Desert Sessions
Eagles Of Death Metal
Nine Black Alps

Well. There's a lot more than that. But they're the ones that come immediately to mind, and in retrospect, probably the most "mainstream" stuff I like. My playlist is full of...er..."one hit wonders" (for want of a better term - they probably just have more hits of which I am unaware...) & stuff I'll have forgotten about for like a year before glorious re-discovery.

Anyway.....er....the point of my post? Oh yes. Pandora. Give it a shot, hope it helps.

You know it's only 406 miles from Dundee to Brighton (if you were to travel in a straight line....)?

Why, that's only:
8.1 hours by car,
5.8 hours by helicopter
0.71 hours by plane
162.68 hours by lawnmower
or 0.002 seconds by light-wave!

Why, at that distance, you might as well walk it on a sunny day! Stick THAT in your 1500 word essay & smoke it, sir!

I'm researching the very same thing at the moment. From what I've seen, Dundee University seems to be one of the best in the country - doing a general art course for the first year, "traditional" animation for the next year, before moving onto 3D stuff later on:

http://www.dundee.ac.uk/prospectus/undergrad/courses/tvi.htm (Scroll down to the animation section obviously)

I've also heard Dundee as being referred to as "the animation capital of Britain" - but that was in a documentary ABOUT the city, so take that as you will...

But I've mainly been researching Scottish unis in general, so there might be an English one more suitable for you.

You know, I think I like the phrase "streaks towards the moon" most out of those panels. Space-nudity is always the answer!
#479
I can see 'em (although I couldn't earlier, it could be the host).

But I'm not sure how you want to improve the perspective exactly....with 3D images, the perspective is usually correct, well, by default. It can't look warped (without intention), and so all planes are aligned as they should be anyway.

I quite like the first image, looks fairly professional & would fit well in an adventure game. However, I think the second is a little simplistic, and it is difficult to tell exactly what those slanted beams are.

I like the shadows & reflections however. Good job!

Also, I would advise not using sprites like that in the final game, I don't think they fit in well. I find that 2D sprites in a 3D world only work when both mediums are of a similar style, whereas here you have relatively realistic backgrounds with cartoony characters - too much of a contrast I think.

I'm glad Futurama ended when it did. I thought the last season was rather bad. Wasn't far from reaching the same low as The Simpsons.

I liked the last series of Futurama, despite the fact that it was starting to take a different direction of sorts. A few of the later episodes focused on tieing up some loose ends (Leela's parents, the Fry/Nibbler storyline) and also got some quite emotional episodes in there ("The Sting"? That one with Fry's dog?).

They tried to be a bit clever at parts, but for the most part they actually succeeded in this. I didn't like some of the later episodes on first viewing, but watching them again recently I've decided while they aren't out & out hilarious, they're still good for different reasons.

In the end, I just viewed the show as a love story. It's not as obvious as most out there, but perhaps that's why I like it. It's quite subtle in this area, for the most part.

But that said, I'm glad it ended when it did. They got a chance to "finish" it properly, without a sudden decline, which would have ruined the whole thing for me.

Oh, and Family Guy CAN be awesome. And usually is.
