Aren't BG Blitzs usually two weeks? I think people tend to enter more in the second week, though I may be mistaken......

Colours are a safe bet for surnames: white, black, brown, green......purple?

Okey doke, if you look at the top of the Hints n Tips forum, you'll notice a sticky topic called "Walkthroughs". It provides links to a couple of sites full of walkthroughs for AGS games, and can be pretty useful. It can also be found by clicking here.

Secondly, if you look at the top of THIS VERY PAGE, under the banner, there's a "search" option, which, when clicked, can be used to search for your game - make sure to uncheck all forums but HnT though.

Hope that helps.

QuoteRemember, the books came after the original radio series.
All sorts of conflicting information in my head! I thought the first book was written before the radio show, and after that Adams went back and rewrote stuff. And the publishers released it in an unfinished state because they couldn't be bothered to wait any more months for him to finish writing the damn thing?

I always heard that the radio series came first, but I have no proof whatsoever, so perhaps you are right...

I'm not really a Stephen Fry fan, but I think he is a better choice for the voice of "the book" than many, they certainly could have done a lot worse (although I have already typed my feelings towards "the book" on the big screen, so I'm not gonna repeat myself :P).

I have also read Dirk Gently....just the first one I believe (fairly recently), though I may have started the other one and given up early on because I didn't like it (there were only two, right?). Having been a big Hitchhiker fan for several years, I had fairly high expectations for Dirkyboy, but I found I was quite disappointed. There are some clever ideas in there, but I did not think they were tied together well enough for it to be an interesting story. The complete randomness was less....random in Hitchhiker.

For example:
Spoiler
I liked the creature in the third (?) HH book who ends up being killed by Arthur in every on eof his lives, and how is was actually introduced as a plant pot before this. I don't know if he was originally planned, but I liked how this was "explained" a little. All the pieces of the plan seem to come together well, as well as at the VERY end of the fifth...even if it is a little depressing as Einoo says.
[close]

And I think they might do what they did with the TV series & end it at the end of the second book. This leaves the floor open for a sequel, but also porvides a fairly satisfying ending otherwise. Unless they plan to do all five books seperately in true "Hollywood sequel money machine" fashion.

Still...hopes remain optimistic.....at a distance....

Hehe, superb, that actually made me laugh out loud. A lol, if you will. Evil, you can have my kids now, if you wish. I mean, it's not like I was doing much with 'em in the first place......

Thanks :D

Aye, we all liked this (the H*R fans anyway) when it first came out:

Some of us even got all the points available....and let me say they are truly the most awesome of us all *cough*

Still, glad you liked it, and welcome aboard. :)

Mostly the extra effort, I imagine.

It seems that MOST games are made by one person, and it is unlikely that that one person will be able to do every voice exactly how they want in the game, and as a result, if they want voices they will have to go out & find other people for it. Most people just cannot be bothered finding others & working with them for what they consider to be an extra.

Also consider the potentially high extra file size that sound adds to the game, and people see this as a disadvantage because it means less people (for example 56kers) will want to download the finished product.

Hehe, one word post, no punctuation or anything, and I love how it says "This post was automatically edited for txt-style spelling" beneath it anyway, and that that's LONGER than the post in question. That amuses me somehow......anyway, carry on.......

Yes, I remember eVOLVE's was a sort of prelude to his game "The Case" (which I hope is still in production) where you had to actually help one of the characters from the game via e-mail & such.

But I am quite enjoying this, it's not too repetetive, the puzzles are fairly varied, but the clues as to how to solve them are often very similar (for example in the source, as LGM says)

Should keep me occupied a while...

General Discussion / Re: AGS Awards

A direct quote from Pesty (the new awards organiser) from the 3rd of January:

QuoteAlright you whiny babies, here's an update.

The Awards are going to run a little later this year, due to the fact that it's changing hands and things need to be settled before they can get started. There have already been a couple snags, but sit tight, please. They're still going to run. Maybe I should bold that.

They're still going to run.

Stop PMing me about them.

They Are Still Going to Run.

Just.....let her get on with it.

Yeah, that does exactly what I want, thank you very much, both of you. Have a virtual cookie.

Hey, I'm fairly unexperienced when it comes to Photoshop, so I was wondering if you guys could help (you all come with such high recommendations from other people who have needed help in the past of course...):

I'm using the Ellipse tool, & I want to change the thickness of the outline (it appears to be just one pixel as it is), the help file says something about a "weight" option, but I can't see it anywhere....anyone care to tell me what to do please?

I'm using PS 7, if that makes much difference.

Thanks in advance.

I have two words for you: Morgan Freeman for best supporting actor. I haven't seen Million Dollar Baby, I don't plan to, I don't even care if he's that good in it. Morgan Freeman = greatest person ever. Just look:

Heh, just a thought here Mr Simonsez (if that IS your real name) but when you reply to a topic it might be useful to check the date of a post first.....this hadn't been posted in (prior to your posting) since June last year, and the guy who created the topic has been MIA since August. Just a word to the wise...

SSH kindly made this list of last year's winners (& therefore catagories) of the Foregos at the time:

http://www.twin-design.com/foregos/

That should explain it rather well.

This reminds me a lot of The Incredible Machine, only in 3D, which is ALWAYS a good thing...the physics in Half Life 2 are impressive in-game anyway, but they're a lot more lovable when they're open to experimentation. I feel like a kid in a science classroom...with rockets....

Erm....about the same as Rincey for me (give or take a month or two), if my memory serves me correct.

Which it probably doesn't.
