Do you have anything in your inventory that could help you see where a figure is? Anythinng that helps you picture him?

I too like the current avatar size, anything that can fit a wave of babies (& therefore a popular reference) is good enough for us......

Speaking of avatars, I can't figure out where to change mine now.

Me neither. I can change personal text, but see no space for personal avatar. And I don't want to be stck on pirate goose forever!

Wales on the other hand, now if THAT isn't a nation of sheep hugging, angry people....

For shame, veryweirdguy! We all know that the Welsh are a fine fine people, as represented by AGA.

AGA is actually the only Welsh guy I know, but I still feel the need to make fun of the Welsh at every oppurtunity....

.....Funny, that.

*disclaimer - in my experience, AGA is actually a pretty awesome guy & I will not hear a (serious) bad word against him*

Well, I think that Scotland is for haggis eaters! And don't make fun of the red white and blue! Anyways, what is haggis???

This is haggis.

Anyway, we Scots prefer our deep fried Mars bars now....like SSH says....*

Eggie, glad to hear you had a good time in the ol' U.S. of A.

*note - I've never actually tried deep fried mars bar......or haggis for that matter......

EDIT - Mephofopolis, calm down a little. No need to get so angry when you did insult his country first ("Bah! America sucks!"). Most people tend to have a very stereotypical view of Scotland (we're a bunch of haggis eating, kilt wearing bagpipe playing people who live in very close quarters & everyone knows each other & we go to witch burnings....probably), & in most cases there's no point in trying to change it.

Wales on the other hand, now if THAT isn't a nation of sheep hugging, angry people....

How about if a mod hasn't judged this by the end of the day, we do a vote?

Critics' Lounge / Re: ark + caveroom

Well, the main problem is that your ark isn't in perspective. A shape like this would be more suitable:

You'd want the sides to be a little more parallel to the edges of your room, & obviously you can add the detail, then it should look a little more believable :)

I played through them about a year ago, I thought they were rather funny in parts, but I did find the plot very cliched. I mean, it seems the developer realised this, & does make light of it a couple of times, but still, I think I would have liked something....more....

Still, don't let that put you off. As I said, it's funny & has some very good puzzles. Go get 'em, tiger.....or something....

I haven't played PoP, but I know in some games you can press ESC to skip some cutscenes. Or, if that doesn't work, you can just keep clicking through the dialogue. But I agree, cutscene skipping should be made obvious for ease of use.

Well......surely Chris (or one of the ops, I'm not sure if they can) can check IPs - if the IP of "Josh" matches that of the kings then we have a grade A* hoax on our hands.

If not then.......well, we'll cross that bridge if necessary.

* - well, maybe not grade A. Grade C or D probably.

mmmmk, I finished it with the full 150 points.

If you're wondering.......

Spoiler
Follow the walkthrough EXACTLY, but while you still have the baby, throw it in the west side of the lake to get some soda. This will also change the bit in the cave, as you can give an item to all three of the guard-type-guys

EDIT: On re-exploration, I noticed the robe has the initials "NN" on them, which presumably stand for naked ned, the naked guy at the tree (you find that's his name by talking to the tree, as I recall). So maybe there is more to this......

EDIT-THE-SECOND: Right, I tried giving Ned the robe, along with all sorts of other stuff, but to no avail. Maybe it was just a way to tie things in, or maybe I just suck. Time will tell. In other news, I noticed I was missing one inv item, it comes below the shield-&-stuff, but above the shirt. Anyone have any ideas what it is? It's the second last one. Also, if anyone has any ideas of what to do with the shirt........(doesn't work with Ned, I tried).

EDIT 17: I figured it out, my missing inv item was the map, never mind.

Mmmmmmk, finished it with 140/150 points.

If you need any help, I'll do my best.

And if anyone knows how to get those last 10.......

I can see them.

Well, the first thing that strikes me is the arms, in my opinion they make her look as if she's marching a little. If this is what you're going for then hey! good job, but if not I'd make them a more relaxed.

About her face, maybe try rounding the chin a little (in the side view)?

Also, I think the shading on the legs (in the side view) looks a bit strange - I understand that it would get darker on the......"underside" type bits, but at the moment I think it looks a lttle as if the light source is constantly changing, & this may not work well in a room.

Lastly, something about the hair flick (in both views) looks a little odd to me, I think it could be a little too exaggerated. Ooh, & also I can't really see the sticky up fringe (that you can see in the side view) in the front view.

But I do quite like the sprite. Good job!

People still have to be taught it though, I mean, every good background artist has to start somewhere......

She has the code........

What you need is the key for the pods, now who has that? It's obviously not you or Adam, who else could have it.....? Maybe you should go find him.........

is there any programmes apart from paint that can create good backgrounds?

The way you put it......it's as if you expect the program to do the creating of the background FOR you.

The most important thing when creating a background is to have talent in the first place. To be able to do good perspective on a pic, to draw details in a way in which they look like what they're supposed to, this is more important than what program you use.

Don't have talent? Practise for a while. The talent will come soon (that's what I've been telling myself at least......).

I think a lot of the best backgrounds are done by scanning a paper sketch, THEN working in Paint, or Photoshop, or whatever.

Although, at that stage, I do believe I prefer Photoshop for the most part, then put it into Paint for the final details (less tools = less hassle for detailed stuff, in my opinion)

I found it rather interesting that at the start, I was more interested in the story but now I've finished the game I want to know more about that character, as the last thing I thought before it ended was how little I knew about the doctor-whose-name-I-can't-remember.

I think it would be an interesting path to go down in another game - starting with a character we know NOTHING about. Giving the player the freedom to control this person, despite the massive gap in what we know about him/her. Then slowly revealing more about them as the game goes on, gradually showing that this is not the person we thought it was. Would this cause the player to act differently within the game?

Does the knowledge we already have change the way we think about how to do things, when we know we are controlling someone else.....if you see what I mean?

I mean, if you had known the doctor was a murderer, would it ave caused you to think about the puzzles differently?
