Matilda and Jane Grey count, damnit!  You men, always trying to keep the ladies down.

I thought that said Jean Grey. Who would not be a good leader (see: attempting to kill everyone.)

You win this round.

We're still quite far away from the US being ready for a gay president, I think,

Unless we count James Buchanan! A different political climate, perhaps, but chances are there's already been a gay US president. Although try telling that to half of middle-America. :(

EDIT: It's also worth mentioning that women aren't really a minority.

True! But still woefully underrepresented in politics (this may have been your point here, if so I apologise.)

General Discussion / Re: Am I Getting Too Old?

I think generally people feel 'old' when they feel a generational disconnection with those younger than them. "What are these youths doing listening to Justin Bieber instead of The Beatles," etc.

Do...do people feel nostalgia for the sun?

From Wikipedia:

QuoteAn average development budget for a multiplatform game is US$18-28M, with high-profile games often exceeding more than $40M

Source

As far as I can tell, this does not include things like marketing and distribution, but I can't say for sure. Normally this would be covered, at least in part, by the publisher, but hopefully this model bypasses the need for a publisher, instead getting the product from developer to consumer directly.

Granted, this isn't a thoroughly comprehensive and researched post, but I would hope it shows how "some fatass getting paid 3.4 million dollars to sit on his ass" is a silly comment to make.

ANOTHER POINT: Initially the $400k was to be split thusly: $300k on the game and $100k on the documentary - I wonder if the split is being kept the same or not? Very interested in seeing the documentary.

You can use my character Icey.

Does anyone have a walkthrough for this?

I can't believe Super Mario Galaxy (1 & 2) have not been mentioned yet. Absolutely the best examples of 3D platforming available. If you like Link to the Past, you should check out Skyward Sword as well (just reaching the end of that myself, it's wonderful!) Oh oh and Kirby's Epic Yarn is the cutest thing ever, get  that if you love 2D platforming or excellent visual design.

It's worth going through a "25 best Gamecube games" list or something as well, that had a lot of good stuff.

Where are you located Grim? If you're in the UK and went with the launch of Netflix I'd recommend binning it and going with Lovefilm at the moment. There's a streaming only package that is slightly cheaper than Netflix, and at the moment I think their selection of films is much better. I intend to check in with Netflix in a few months to see if their library has improved, but at the moment Netflix only has things that I already own.

I've only seen the first Ritchie film, but yes, I found it to be a complete mess, while I like the series a lot.

I'm 'interested', but to what degree, I am not yet sure. I'd love to be kept posted though!

I'm not sure how deep they are (I suppose depth in poetry is the most subjective thing in existence ever), but I've always liked:

"It shone, pale as bone
As I stood there alone
And I thought to myself how the moon,
hat night, cast its light
On my heart's true delight,
And the reef where her body was strewn. "

and:

With boney hands I hold my partner
On soulless feet we cross the floor
The music stops as if to answer
An empty knocking at the door
It seems his skin was sweet as mango
When last I held him to my breast
But now we dance this grim fandango
And will four years before we rest.

Both from Grim Fandango, of course.

Dang, reading the memorable quotes from that game just makes me want some kind of HD remake or update or something. Or to dig out my copy.
