Project:
The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz -- a novel accurate adventure

Details:
There are many versions of the Wizard Of Oz out there, but strangely enough, the original source material isn't one of the more popular ones. And it's got potential to be a great point and click game. We've had Emerald City Confidential... but why not a point and click actually based on the canon novel? Dorothy's adventure through the Land Of Oz... is anyone interested in assisting me with this undertaking?

Positions Available:
First off, I'd like to say that anyone can help with anything. You don't have to be solely a character sprite artist if you don't want to be. I want this to be a fun group collaboration, so we get a fun end product! Also, there can be more than one person working on a certain thing. The more the merrier, and the work will be divided even further! We'll just have to work together to make sure the end product matches up style-wise. :)

Background/Set Design and Art --
Character Models -- Tox, Linds
Game Coding -- monkey_05_06, elentgirl
Story/Puzzles -- Miss Manday, yamipanda

Deadline:
At this time, there is no deadline set. I'd like to get a team together first.

Awesome! I couldn't agree more, and wish you the best of luck with the project. I hope to stroll down the yellow brick road some day (nod)

Thank you kindly!

I just think the possibilities for puzzles are just unlimited for a game like this. Rescuing the Scarecrow from his pole, oiling the Tin Woodsman, building the raft to cross the river, saving the Scarecrow from the river, escaping the Kalidahs, building the trolley to escape the poppies. Soooo much to work with.

Here's a first look at Dorothy!

We are still looking for additional crew in ALL positions. If you want to help with puzzles... we welcome you! If you want to draw, we'd love to have you! Coding? We would be estatic to have your assistance! Everyone is welcome! If interested in joining up, please post here or contact me, and I will link you to our own forum where all the game creation is taking place!

What kind of graphics style are you thinking for backgrounds?

Miss Manday

I'd prefer colorful illustrations for the background, to match with the art style of the characters. I'm looking for color and whimsy. :)

That sounds awesome! I love the Oz books. I wish I could help with this, but I'm new to creating games and not really good at anything yet. :(

You are more than welcome to join us to help with the story and puzzles! I'd love to have the help of someone else who is familiar with the books. :)

I've been reading through them, and there's loads of good stuff in the sequels - especially Dorothy And The Wizard In Oz, with its invisibility fruit and water-walking leaves!

Miss Manday

Absolutely. Oz definitely lends itself to being a great game!

Even in Kansas?  (wtf) I hope not...

EDIT:
So, I'm interested in helping out with story/design and art-direction/animation. But my contribution will most probably be limited as I'm working on other stuff (games/other stuff) as well.
Aside from the interest, Mainly I aim to join so that I can have the benefit of learning AGS by being a part of a production and having access to the coders (like an intern)*, so, I'd like to have access to the source code repository. I vow not to do any damage to the project by any means, having access to it. That's my only condition.

Also, I'd like to know the teams stance on using Creative Commons license (BY-SA) for the art/music. I would personally like to release my contribution under the license.
It'd be awesome for this project to extend to;
1) Covering the canon written by L. Frank Baum (The 14 books in the public domain)
2) Being a new source of learning for newcomers to AGS with the source and the assets released for free for them to play with
Plus, how awesome would be for books in Public Domain to have games based on it also released to the public?
