*ahem*...

Well... Here's the info (and facts):

1. There's some 20 GB of video material, from 3 cameras.
2. There's 16 sketches (illustrations) in B&W.
3. There's a single audio file (from 7 movements, so 7 works in one file) which lasts 15:35 or so...
4. There's a few things I want to say with this video (in terms of text).
5. There's also the score it self which could be used streaming from right to left or something in 50% opacity...

So I want to make a video lasting 16 minutes roughly, with the text in, like a sort of a silent documentary (as in no talk), and the music playing in the back. As a sort of a promotional video for the music. The score is already for sale, the music has been mastered, and the video have been timed and are 'alright' (two out of the three cameras. The third camera is crappy).

Anyone care to discuss this a bit further? mods? Someone else?

I fear that I'm not exactly good at editing video, plus I have so many other things to do that I wouldn't be able to devote some decent time in such a project. But I think that it's very much needed for the promotion of the score and the audio (should be a recording available soon in CDBaby, itunes, amazon, etc)...

Pm me, or post here, or email me (most should know what my email is by now), or skype me at 'nikolasideris' or whatever else...

Thanks

Hi Nik! I can't personally give you a yes/no without a few more questions and some info.

Firstly, the actual composition of the video sounds fine - muted footage over soundtrack audio with some text titles - simple.

3 cameras of footage is somewhat overkill in my books though, going through 2 cameras worth of footage and cutting it down/using only the interesting bits is bad enough (this is a typical setup for wedding videos) so 3 just adds to the pain. So, my questions

1) Roughly how long is each camera footage, is it 3x60 mins? 1x20 min + 1x30 min + 1x40 min? etc

2) What format is the footage in, is it still only on tape, is it HD, and if so - whats the file format?

3) Would you be able to post the footage to me on a returnable USB stick, because I can't download anything (My connection struggles with files over 400mb!!)

Any additional info about the actual footage and how you see it being used in the video would be useful. That said, those are just my questions... perhaps someone else is in a better position to help you.

Cheers!

Thanks mods!

To answer to your questions:

1. I can do the rough cutting of the films. See I recorded 2 hours of video and audio, and from that I edited some 16 minutes of music (and should edit the corresponding video for that). Anything else will be off sync. So you don't have to worry about picking up the right parts of the video, I've already done that and can edit the videos... It will still be a large chunk but nowhere near the 20 GBs I mention.

2. It's not in tape. The two cameras are FHD while the third one is "plain" HD. So You have the option (which is what I'm doing) to go for 1280x720 (the size of a normal HD) and have the ability to shrink up/down the other two which are larger.

3. Yes I would, no problem there AT ALL!

Now, keep in mind that I think the footage will be minimally needed. The focus would be on the illustrations, the score perhaps (for example the 7th work is a LONG solo on the right player (primo) and just chords on the left, so I was thinking that I could create a very long line of notes (a single staff) and scroll it across the screen little by little to follow the music performance... That for the 7th movement of course, not for everything.

You can get a better idea of the video footage by watching the following two videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI9H2LIsF3o
and
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrNKQvcrB5g

These are my attempt and they are... lacking, for the best. Plus it only features 2/7 works and it would be huge hussle of me to do all 7 of them. So I think text over audio, etc would be much simpler and if done creative will look amazing, I think...

Thoughts?

EDIT: I just went through the videos and if I cut out the unnecessary stuff, it's around 10 GBs from the three cameras. And I have timed the parts of each movement for each camera. Plus the footage should be sparingly used (I think) rather than fully,as it is in my own videos... I think... Did I mention I think so? Not sure though...

Hi Nik, thanks for the info. As I read it you're effectively after someone to nicely overlay the graphics? I'm not the best guy for that, it'd look rubbish if I tried. I can edit footage together but can't do fancy graphics, titling, animations or anything like that. I'm struggling to think how I would scroll a large image of the notes across for example, the software I use wouldn't make that very easy and it'd look nasty & cheap - but then it's software for editing footage not for adding graphics, (and I don't know how to use After Effects or anything fancy like that).

I can help edit the footage, but for the titles/graphics, I think you'd be best finding someone else. It's not my specialty :P

And PS. I think the editing you've done on those two vids is nice! Nothing over the top... looks good. If you think I could still help you in some way let me know. But visual effects are not really my thing...just simple editing.

Mark,

Many thanks. And I think you're right... If you can't do titles, etc, there's no reason to try... Personally I use Adobe Premier and I've found my way around doing various things, but in all honesty because it's always trial and error, it's going to take me A LOT to pull off what I'm after... :-/

I'll check other people though.

Again thanks.
