Title: New AGS site release
Post by: AGA on Sun 19/01/2025 00:03:56
I am planning to put the long-awaited new AGS site (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/adventure-related-talk-chat/ags-website-redesign/new#new) live on the evening of Saturday, 25th January; this will likely take a few hours.  While the main site will completely change, the forums and wiki should continue to look and operate as they usually do.

This thread will be here for you to report any issues noticed after the site is up again!

When viewing recent posts, clicking on the thread name sometimes shows the post in its place in the thread (like earlier), but sometimes jumps to the first post in the thread (new, unexpected behaviour).

Could you give some definite examples, please?  "Sometimes" is unfortunately not very helpful...  I do notice that the links to individual posts aren't being rewritten the way they should; they appear as "https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?msg=636668906" instead of "https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/site-forum-reports/new-ags-site-release/msg636668906/#msg636668906".

Great work with this new site! It's very impressive!!!

I noticed an issue in the forums, when I go to the Completed Games Announcement thread, if I click the three dots for showing more pages and then click the page 6, I get the following error, "The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.".

Not sure to post here or the other topic where it was discussed previously. Do we have a list of remaining assets which are still using AI and need to be replaced? Is it just the main homepage banner?

Trying to move to page 2 (or another number) while on a board (list of threads) gives an error message. Doing the same inside a thread works fine.

The "Play (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/)" page is showing the Pick of next month.

On a side note, my links for the Pick of the month don't work any more:
- add a new entry.
- edit an existing entry.
- list of existing entries.

Just a small thing, but when you click on a "download" button from a game page, the text changes to "downloading" before sending you to the game's website. Given that no games are actually hosted on the AGS website, having the text say something like "connecting" or "redirecting" instead of "downloading" might eliminate that few seconds of misinformation where the button indicates that a download has started.

I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work, but on the site (play section), when I try to view the games created by a specific user, it only shows the ones they uploaded, not the ones they collaborated on.

Another thing--I'm almost certain that some of my games had gold-cup player ratings (Tunnel Vision did, I think--it has 5 comments), however this seems to have not carried over to the new site. Has the number of ratings to display a gold-cup rating increased? Curious if anyone else has noticed this with their own games.

Another issue I've noticed: when I first registered on the website, my username was "notarobotyet", but I later changed it to the one I'm using now. The new site, however, is showing the old one both in the top right user menu and in the credits of my games (and games I've collaborated in). For example, here (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/game/2619/).

This also means I have two different profile URLs depending on where you are:

https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/profile/Laura%20Hunt/ or https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/profile/Laura+Hunt/ on the forums.

https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/profile/notarobotyet/ on the new site.

I changed my username because the first one was just meant to be a crappy placeholder, so I hope this can be fixed at some point.

I'm not sure if it's related to the new site, or if I just mis-clicked a bunch. But clicking the last post link on the forum, sometimes took me to the first post instead. It seemed to be completely random as well.

None the less, the new game site looks brilliant. Very fancy and modern looking.  (nod)
Thanks AGA and everyone else involved in the new site.  :-D

I think it's just these ones left:

1. Game Homepage Banner
Please be aware that the images you see on both the dark and the light mode are as is. A replacement should have a similar gradient, to allow the text/buttons to remain readable. Also, it needs to look good on different viewports.
(https://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/assets/img/site/homepage/splash-background-light.webp)(https://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/assets/img/site/homepage/splash-background-dark.webp)

2. Confirmation Page when a game creator has successfully added their game to the database.

3. 403 - Not authorised
(https://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/assets/img/site/error-pages/403-not-authorised.webp)

4. 404 - Not Found
(https://adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/assets/img/site/error-pages/404-not-found.webp)

Also, the images of the engine in the carousel on this page https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/create/ are probably as old as the previous website, so if someone has more recent screenshots I'm more than happy to replace them.

Post by: pell on Sun 26/01/2025 21:01:15
I know I'm probably a user interface curmudgeon, but it's a little jarring as a viewer for the screenshots in the "Play Hundreds of Games" section to be covered by interface elements.

It's not that the wavy windows look bad. But the web design is partially hiding the very information the page is there to show. Maybe the waves could be moved down a bit, but then there's a lot of extra space taken up. Maybe a more subtle wave can be used that doesn't interfere with the screenshots, or rectangles with rounded corners if normal rectangles are too stiff for the design.

Quote from: Creamy on Sun 26/01/2025 14:31:36The "Play (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/)" page is showing the Pick of next month.

Fixed! And it's also fixed in the search filter.

Quote from: Creamy on Sun 26/01/2025 14:31:36On a side note, my links for the Pick of the month don't work any more:
- add a new entry.
- edit an existing entry.
- list of existing entries.

The list has been moved to the search page: Search Filter: Pick of The Month (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/search/&q=account-no-filter:checked;other-pick-of-the-month:checked;newest-picks-of-the-month:checked)

The add/edit Pick of the Month doesn't have its own page anymore. If you navigate to the game page you want to add/edit the pick of the month for, you see an "Actions" button under the image carousel. This changes depending on your profile permissions. When you click it, you should see "Pick of the Month", which takes you to the correct section on the game edit page.

Please be aware that if you select an older game, you may need to complete missing mandatory fields.

I hope this helps!

The logic is still the same; you need a minimum of 5 votes (note: this is different to the number of comments).

It was a bug, that's fixed now. You should see your gold cups again.

The new site is very impressive. I especially like the new games database.

Just one question: How do I edit a game's page in the database if I want to make some changes? I just uploaded my MAGS game and I can't see a way to edit the page now.

Thanks for putting all this work into the new site!

nitpicky comments:

Spoiler
- I miss the word "Games" from the menu options, "Play" seems less clear imo. "Play Games"?
- "Search" might be clearer that it's the full database if it was "All Games (Search)."
- I zoom 150% on the forums, and it used to look fine on the main site.. but it's too much now. I don't know if I can separate these in firefox somehow. (maybe this is my problem.)

Just so you know, it's still happening, and now I'm certain it wasn't because I mis-clicked a bunch. This time I've recorded which threads it happened with as well.

It works, thanks. I can even edit the whole game page  8-0

I found a couple more bugs:
- The "downloads to review" counter still shows a game that I've just reviewed.
- I was logged in when I wrote a review for Carnival of Shadows (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/game/2768/) but the comment is credited to "UNKNOWN".
- the right and left arrows don't work when you type a comment in a game page - but the up and down arrows operate.

That's a conscious design choice to try avoid overusing the word game. Every page is about creating and playing games, and joining a community of people who love creating and/or playing games.

Quote from: jfrisby on Mon 27/01/2025 03:48:46- "Search" might be clearer that it's the full database if it was "All Games (Search)."

I've updated the title to be "Search All Games" to be in line with the button on the homepage.

Zoom levels are indeed based on root url, so it's not possible to distinct zoom levels between the site and the forums. Unless you visit them in different browsers.

The wave in the highlight tiles is a conscious design choice. The purpose of the tiles is to trigger your interest, and invite you to click into the game. When you do that, you can see the same image in the carousel in its full extent, and you can zoom in or make it full screen (if the image resolution is high enough).

I made the changes, tried to save them, and it just seemed to hang there and never update.

Well done to @tampie85, who's managed to optimise a database query I wrote that was causing pages on the main site to load far more slowly than expected.  Pages seem to load almost instantly now, as expected!

@tampie85 has possibly fixed all the forums-specific issues now.  Please let us know if there's any links remaining that don't behave as expected.

Sorry for the vagueness. I gave "Carnival of Shadows" a rating (2 cups) and a comment. But it was still present in my "Downloads to review" tab afterwards. It's not such a big deal since we can remove the reminders manually.
EDIT: I've just rated another game that I had recently downloaded and it worked this time - the game disappeared from the "download to review" tab.

I use Google Chrome, but I also tried with Mozilla Firefox and got the same problem.
My computer runs on Windows 11 Family and I use a regular keyboard.

Yes. I can click with the mouse to move the cursor within the box. However the left and right arrows of my keyboard don't move the cursor in the comment box.

I just went to leave a comment on a game in the database and noticed two things:

- you can't use arrow keys or shift-arrow-key to move your cursor in the text box... or I'm not able to, but only there.   (edit, just read the above comment, guess this is known).
- Comments now have to be 10 words...  this is new?

Good news: Jumping to the correct post now seems to work, thanks, this was really bothering me.

Bad news: clicking on a username now leads to the index page, not the profile. This has been working before (I was impressed that even usernames with spaces worked again)

I know bug hunting can be like that - fix one thing, break the other.

On the games page, Creamy's comment about Carnival of Shadows is listed as one of the last comments. He has a spoiler, and in the preview, it looks like the spoiler tag is ignored. On the page of the game, the spoiler tag works as usual.

This will be a marginal problem, but if someone was to use a spoiler tag very early in their comment, the spoiler would be shown on the preview page.

Hi. Just tried again, but still no luck. All I'm trying to do is change the title from "Bière Américaine" to "Bière Américaine (MAGS)"  I change the text in the title box, click "Save" but nothing happens. It's not a big issue, really, I just like to flag my MAGS games as such, so people have more reasonable expectations about the game they're about to play.

Well...  There's clearly a bug here, which I'll look into.  However, we're hoping to get away from the habit people have of putting extraneous details like type of game, version number etc in the title of their game.  There's also a separate MAGS field after all, and the 'Description' field on the downloads could be used for version information.  Having stuff like that in the titles makes things quite complicated when you have 2,000+ games in the database the way we do.

I tried changing the title of your game, and it actually seems to have worked.  For some reason it's showing a blank screen, but if you then go back to the game's page and refresh the change seems to have prevailed?

Just a very minor issue: the title attributes of the little "I can help with X" images below the avatars contain the default texts, not the ones entered by the user. You have to open their profile to see those.

Thanks for fixing the links to (new) posts! :)
Also, submitting a new post took ages until recently, it's now much faster, great work!

The idea was more to explain what the icons represent.  Look again, I've changed to a middle ground which combines the title with the custom text.

With the new site, I uploaded a game yesterday, and I wanted to link to my google drive in the downloads, and it works from my PC where I am logged in, but both from my phone and from the person's computer that was helping me, the download link doesn't work (I think it's expecting a direct link to the zip and thus the redirect isn't working?). I also want to edit my submission, but clicking save isn't saving my edits.

I could download this using your link (the one on the game page), it just took a long while before responding. It looks like it's the same version that Pell uploaded on his itch page (in the MAGS thread)? At least the file sizes are the same.

Yeah, it is. Either way, it's probably best to get the download link off of google drive, and I'll be modifying it further.

Those are both the same issue, just represented differently by your browsers.  I've uploaded something that will hopefully fix it.  If it continues to go wrong, you should get an obvious popup on your screen.

Please be sure to hard refresh the game's page screen with CTRL+SHIFT+R before retrying to ensure the JavaScript is reloaded.

One feedback I have with the site design in general (it's been this way since the old site) is that I think that there should be a direct "Forum" link that takes you to the main page without needing to navigate through multiple pages. The submenus aren't that big of a deal, but there's only links to certain subforums like competitions and activities.

There's a big Enter the Forums button right at the top of this page: https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/join/, which is one of the three main strands of the site.  Two clicks from the home page: one on Join, one on that button.

Something to bear in mind is that the vast majority of visitors to the site aren't here for the forums.  Most people come to play games rather than making them or seeking support.  Believe me, I've been seeing the user stats for the last 15 years!  While as a regular visitor to the forums it may seem a long way to go to get to where you want, you aren't necessarily representative of the entire user base.

I just posted some links to games in the AGS database as an answer to Kara Jo on discord. The thumbnail says "Game Not Found", although clicking on those very words brings me to the game page. I also discovered that the other window I had open, despite being on the game page in the database, when hovering, said "Game Not Found and 3 more pages". This seems to be the case no matter which game page I am on, so I guess the database send out the error message despite there being no error. (I am using Windows 11.)

I also had to do the hard refresh to edit a game as database admin (I removed a MAGS tag). If this is the permanent solution, perhaps we need an info box about it close to the save button?

I'm not sure what you mean here?  A hard refresh should only be required if there are JavaScript changes, which only happens when I fix a bug.  Day to day, it shouldn't ever be necessary.

Quote from: heltenjon on Tue 04/02/2025 10:24:53I just posted some links to games in the AGS database as an answer to Kara Jo on discord.

This should now be fixed!  Witness (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/game/785/) now shows the correct title, and only non-existent games (e.g. https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/game/99999999/) show the Game Not Found title.

I'm not sure if this is intentional or a bug:

There's a banner at the top of the forums for the AGS Awards which invites me to visit its thread for more info.

However, when I click that link, I end up at the very latest post in the thread - which was very confusing for someone who was looking to understand how it worked, who was nominated, etc.

The banner is worded as though it was going to take me to an introduction/explanation of the awards, but maybe I'm misinterpreting that!

I just randomly pressed "Edit Game" on a random game in database, and to my surprise it opened game description for editing. Is it a bug, or I somehow have permissions to do that (then why)?

Don't know whether this is intentional, but I think most (all?) mods on the forums are also mods of the game pages.
I seem to recall that before the site update I saw something like "You are an admin (moderator?) of the game pages" but it's no longer specified after the update.

Yeah, all forums staff and panel members have edit rights.

Not that it's ever likely to be an issue, but there's a full audit log of changes made to all games entries, so I can always roll back to the before-editing point if something went wrong.

I think alerts for threads don't work anymore. I have set this thread (and others) to "receive alerts" but I do not get them. Alerts for likes, quotes and reported posts work fine.

Do you mean email alerts specifically?  It does seem those have been stopped for a while, but I'm not sure if the server move was the cause.  I'll look into it.

No, not email, I haven't tried that. When clicking the button "user actions" (mobile site), there is an option about alerts. Clicking it there are 4 options (not following, no alerts or emails, receive alerts, receive emails and alerts). I chose receive alerts.
I'd expect an alert at the bell icon on top of the page, whenever a new post is written in a thread with alerts active.

Fixed! It was because the voting start date wasn't set, I've now added the logic to take an unset date into account.

Not sure if this is a new problem. I tried to link the awards thread to a calender entry by pressing the button "Link to Calendar". I enter a title for the event, add the dates and save. But I get an error "Invalid date". I tried both, making it "All day" or with a specific time, it didn't work.

When editing in the Game Database (I was removing misplaced MAGS tags), it seems like every game is missing info in some fields. Has the data not been carried over to the new pages, or are these perhaps new tags? I feel like I've been asked to fill the box named "role" (Creator, Programming, Graphics, etc.) and/or the boxes for language for every game.

All available data has been carried over to the new pages. A lot of data is missing indeed as previously the fields were not mandatory. We decided to make it mandatory to be able to return better search results on it search page (which is the most visited page).

Would you mind keeping an eye on the game page and compare it with the edit page? If it's not on the game page before editing, it's missing data that should be added. If it's on the game page and you have to reenter it on the edit page, it's a bug.

Hope that helps!

It seems that when you search by game author, if you accidentally put a space after the name, then it returns no results. If you delete the space, the search results are as expected. Nit sure if this is fixable or not.

Also, on the forums page, if you click on posts from the "unread posts" page (on mobile) those posts are still listed as unread until you click on them from the main forum page.

What they need to do:

I don't think it needs more explanation. Every field has a question mark that gives an explanation when you hover over it, and all fields which aren't dropdowns or checklists have an example text in them. All mandatory fields were also already present on the old site, most of them were already made mandatory over time, so it's mainly the older games who have the most missing fields.

The advantage for game owners updating their game details, is that their games show up in more categories on the search page and therefore have a higher likelihood to be played by others.

This URL may also help when they are logged in (it shows a list of their games): https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/search/&q=account-my-games:checked;newest-releases:checked

Hope this helps!

@cat
I guess that means that we also should encourage creators to add these tags when they update their games. This will likely be confusing, as many games are already marked as "fantasy" or "horror" or something from earlier. (It confused me, at least.)
Title: Re: New AGS site release
Post by: cat on Thu 20/02/2025 09:05:29
Would it make sense to automatically assign some of the tags with a DB query? For example, all games marked as fantasy could get the fantasy tag.

Also, shouldn't those categories be curated? I'm afraid there will be quite a huge list of tags in the future that will not help with searching. I want to try to update Toffee with a tag that has a meaning of "is suited for children". But what tag name should I use? "Children" "Child friendly" "Suited for Children" "Kids" all come to my mind. I think it makes sense to establish at least some scheme how to define tags.

And a small possible improvement: When clicking the magnifier icon on the main page, it would be nice if the search input box on the search page got focus automatically so you can just start typing.
Title: Re: New AGS site release
Post by: AGA on Thu 20/02/2025 18:36:36
I'd say curating them in advance is probably a bit limiting.  And assigning them "automatically" would basically be curating by code, someone would have to maintain a list of rules.  We have 2,000+ games, I think creating a list that suits lots of them would be an impossible task!  We have a limited number of genres and game types after all, and I think those are very limiting.

I'd say let's just get people to embrace the concept of tagging first, and if things get too unruly we can make some effort to tidy things up.

Okay, I've updated my games with hopefully useful tags.

One question, though: wouldn't it make sense to have the tags search work as AND instead of OR? I think tags would be very useful to narrow down search results instead of broadening them.

The new Game Entry Reports thread will be useful. But...

I checked one of these games randomly (with database admin rights): Reality-on-the-Norm: Davy Jones C'est Mort (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/game/1780/#downloads-section). As suspected, the report about the download not working was false. (The case of having to override Windows Security by choosing "Download anyway".) I was able to checkmark away the reported error, and I think that went away. However, when trying to save this, the page jumps to the download link and wants me to change it from http to https. I can sort of understand this automated behaviour, and it is probably some of the cause for the game being flagged anyway, but in a database such as ours, that's not going to fly. Many older games still have working http links.

In this case, I believe I have managed to make the checkmarks go away, but I could not remove the two erroneously listed downloads marked Store and Demo (which probably are there due to a bug on the old website).

As for the second point, someone has already raised this.  However, I'll make the same point I did then, which is that people who visit the forums are actually a tiny percentage of the people who use the site (less than 1%).  I've added a few links to the 'Join' menu in the navbar though, directly to the forums, Discord and Facebook (the last two of which are actually in the footer of every page already...)

I'm working on this, but it's much harder to implement than you might think, given the current design of the search page code.  Bear with me!

I think I probably need to make the games page entry notifications a bit more active, as currently it relies on game authors keeping an eye on their games' threads.  Bear in mind of course that said threads will always move to the top of the board when a new report is made.  Only reports made since the new site went live will be noted, which means you don't have to scan back very far to see if your game's already been reported.  But I could make use of the forums alerts and personal messages systems to make it harder to miss.

That's not to say any game that doesn't have a forums report is perfect of course, just that it hasn't been reported since we went live!  Think of it as more future proofing than ensuring the existing archive is complete.  The games search page also has the "Other" -> "Marked as Broken or Missing" filters, which can be combined with "My Account Filters" -> "My Games" to check any reports that may exist.  If there's a report for a game you'll see a big call to action banner at the top of said game's page.

HTTP is no longer actively supported, and most browsers reject it.  It really isn't wise to rely on it any longer.

Most of the games that are so old they have HTTP links have downloads in the archive.org repository (https://archive.org/details/adventuregamestudio?tab=collection).  Anyone can also upload to archive.org themselves if they're looking for stable HTTPS hosting in place of an old HTTP link.  I am aiming to integrate archive.org mirror links into the games page eventually.

Just a heads up. I updated the not-working link for The Marionette and replaced it with a link to the AGS depository on archive.org. So far, so good.

However, saving a new link does not resolve the reported error. I went in to edit the game again, and was now told that the new link (that I had just entered) was the one being reported. I could checkmark it and mark it as resolved. This behaviour is somewhat misleading.

TL;DR
If you fix a download error, you have to edit again to remove the error report afterwards.

Another one about database maintenance:
Tres Acordes had three download links: game, store and demo. All three was reported broken. As all three were identical, I deleted store and demo and replaced the game link with a working one. However, in the AGS site report thread, the result is that the two deleted links are still listed as errors. Is it possible to automatically mark these as fixes when deleted? (I guess a workaround would be to add false link, checkmark, then delete, but that would be cumbersome.)

I know that you have to sanitize your input (hello Bobby Tables), but it should be escaped or there should be at least some error message.

We decided years ago not to allow users to edit or delete their comments to avoid revisionism, and people going back and changing their opinions after the fact.  Plus, honestly, it would be quite a bit of effort to implement, while asking a games page admin to delete a comment is relatively easy!

The favicon has a black background, as opposed to a transparent one:

Is this deliberate?
Presumably it's there to make the white outline visible.

Alternatively it'd have to look like this:

I'm not sure which looks better though.  :-\

I think the only problem was, that no-one MADE a better icon. What about having the background blue as the cup itself?

I found a few unusual things while browsing the games section:

- The "actions" dropdown only had one action (report image as broken). Maybe other games have more actions, but a dropdown list with only one action seemed odd.
- It's also an unusual action to have as important in the UI as 'Download'.
- Below those two buttons, hidden in the list of game details, was 'Favourite'. This is another user action, so it also seemed odd that it wasn't in the dropdown list.

It might make more sense to have the two big buttons be Download and Favourite, since these are arguably the two most important ones for people browsing games. The less important and less used "report broken image" action could be a text link near "share your thoughts" or an icon integrated into the image browser.

Speaking of the image browser:

- On Firefox Android, the pause button often doesn't stop the progress bar when only one screenshot exists (it just resets and progresses again).
- After pressing the pause button, pressing it again (to try pausing it again) occasionally makes the image browser go full screen.
- When the pause button occasionally works, tapping the screenshot / holding it to scroll down will unpause the progress bar (or trigger full screen, as above)

If these are issues beyond my phone, one option could be to disable the progress bar when only one screenshot exists? And perhaps the ability to drag the image by holding it down?

Hopefully some of this is helpful! Thank you for making the new AGS site so great!

Blue or one of the other colours in the light theme colour palette might work best, as otherwise you have to contend with every browser (and OS theme) having a different background colour for a tab (which having a transparent background could end up clashing with (e.g. white outline on a white tab)).

OR have a light theme version with a certain background, and a dark theme one with another.  I could then dynamically serve a different favicon depending on the selected theme.

Ok, I will give it a try.
What is the best way of creating an icon? Which tools can be used? Last time I did this it required several bitmaps in various resolutions and color depths to be included in one file. Has this changed?

There's a website called "convertio" that can convert a bitmap or png to an icon, so if you just create the highest resolution, the converter takes care of the rest. Just Google "png to ico" and it should come up.

There seems to be a problem with the database. When I try to edit a game, it leads to a blank screen instead of the edit screen. And when opening the "Search all games" page, no game is found until I add a search parameter or a filter. (Previously - all games were listed when no parameter was given.)

I gave it a try with convertio but the icon doesn't seem to fully work. It doesn't show up in list or details view in explorer but in the larger views. Here is the png, if anyone wants to give it a try:

(and here is the icon I generated ico (https://www.clowdergames.com/pics/newWebsite/icon.png) and the super ugly svg: svg (https://www.clowdergames.com/pics/newWebsite/icon.svg))

Here you go:

It's got the sizes: 256, 128, 48, 32, and 16.
I made it using Gimp, although I did the resizing with IrfanView in order to use the Lanczos resampler, since I think it's the best resampler for retaining details.

Looks great on light mode!  Any chance of a version with a transparent background for dark mode, please?  So the cup with white outline, but no blue background, just transparent instead.

Great!  On the main site it will now switch between the blue backgrounded version on light theme, and transparent on dark.

There's a bit more work required to get it working on the forums, bear with me.

Wouldn't the blue background alse work for the dark mode?

Hi not sure if this is the right place to mention this, but when I'm on the site www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/search/ any of the games I click on bring me to a blank page (each with a path like /play/game/1234/).

I'm not sure if this is the "new site" or if I'm looking in the wrong place.

Anyway seems to be a 100% reproduction rate. I'm using Edge, haven't tested with other browsers.

If you have dark mode in your OS too, your browser tabs can also be dark (black for unfocused, grey for focused on Firefox for instance).  The blue clashes a bit then, but transparent looks really nice on both black and grey in my opinion.

On the front game page, https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/play/ , Under Most recent games, it looks like games without working thumbnails are not listed. (Rosewater is most recent game, and it does not show up here.)

I have standard mode for my OS. When I now view the page in light mode, I get a blue background on a white tab. When I switch to dark mode on the page using the moon icon, I now only see the innards of the cup on a white tab (because I don't see the outline), both Chrome and Firefox. Only when I open either FF or Chrome in private mode I get dark tab background. I think using the blue background for all is the safer bet.

Not really related to the new site specifically, I think, but apparently the AGS awards are currently underway.

Right, @AGA could you please remove the banner for the AGS awards? (I knew I forgot something)
