Title: sup guys, check out my new (guitar) website!
Post by: MonkeySpank on Thu 19/04/2012 12:17:25
Hello people!

some of you may remember me as an overambitious guy that never finished a proper adventure game (I'll get round to it soon though), but recently I've been making this website and I just wanna show it to you..

It's a website where you enter how much time you have to practice guitar and it gives you exercises one by one to fit the time frame.

It's called musicdiscipline, please check it out.

thanks!

This looks really really GOOD!
Love the look of it!

One thing, I can't seem to get the metronome to work..
(I'm using chrome)

hmm, that's strange.. works for me in chrome..

when you click start, does the button change to stop or does it do nothing?

I agree with Peder! I was surprised to find how useful some of the simpler exercises are to me. Like knowing all of the notes on the fretboard. Probably shameful that I don't instantly know them after over 15 years of playing without doing some quick mental calculation, i.e. by recognizing them through octaves, especially after the 12th fret.

The triadic arpeggios exercise is useful for me too, as I'm starting to get into gypsy jazz, where scales aren't as helpful.

Ok, it DOES work.. The problem was it is just too quiet for me to hear!
I AM currently in a room with a bit of noise, however I can still barely hear anything with my volume up full (laptop speakers though pretty good speakers).

Just in case you haven't noticed I get a js error when loading the exercise pages.

It's looks really good.

Not really sure why you've decided to spell "button" as "butan" though.

As a very undisciplined guitarist I love the idea! And the site looks great! I'll keep a look out for this and check it out again the next time I pick up my guitar.

Think the website is a great start for budding guitarists.

In my early guitar years (mid 60's) there was nothing except listening to records or finding the odd old school music teacher. I did have a few mail order lessons from BBC1 session musician Jack Wilcox. Of course Bert Weedons 'Play in a day' helped.

No matter how much you learn, or think you know about the guitar (or other instr), try comping like the old guys used to, or standing out front to deliver a blinding 15 minute guitar solo. Not easy. If you have a natural ability and your MOJO is on form then the skies the limit. I've been there and done it (80% of the time. The other 20% was crap).

I've seen too much focus on technique rather than spirit/heart.

But you do need to know some basics... That's where sites like yours comes in.  8-)

My photo is circa 2002 from a gig in Gravesend Kent.

Good luck
