He prevented many from going to their deaths, but even though he himself was not in danger, he did not survive.  What happened?

Does He refer to Helium? Is "he" very small? *No but I like your way of thinking!

Does he refers to Dobby the House Elf in Harry Potter?
Is the male "he" pronoun important? *In fact, it's not necessarily a "he", I just used that for but it could just as easily be a "she".  In the context of this clue it's kind of hard to tell the gender of the creature in question.
Is "he" an inanimate object?
Is "he" very small? *Depends on your definition of "very small".  In the context of this clue it's difficult to give an objective answer to this question.

Is he a lemming? *Yes and No
Did he die from the same condition the others he saved would have died from?

#In order to not be misleading,. I have answered Mandle's questions about scale as if this were the real-life creature.  In the context of the environment it finds itself in, these may not represent an accurate reflection of the creature's perceived size.



Cassie's unlocked the rest of the puzzle, or near enough anyway.  In the game Lemmings, you can place Blockers to prevent your lemmmings from falling to their death / going headlong into a trap.  The blocker is not actually in danger as a result of staying still and away from the danger, but unfortunately the only way you can then stop that lemming remaining on the level (therefore preventing you from completing that level) is by making him / her explode!  (Never was sure if the lemmings were meant to be male, female, a mixture of androgynous!)

Well done dayowlron for identifying the creature as a Lemming, I hope my answer wasn't misleading but "yes" it was a lemming and "no" it was actually a computer character.  If you see what I mean.

A couple's car breaks down on the road. The man locks the doors leaving the woman in the car alone. When he returns, the woman was dead, a stranger was in the car and there was no sign of anyone breaking into the car.  What happened?
