You are the sole survivor of an unknown catastrophe, trapped in an air-raid shelter. Escaping your confinement, you face a delusional reality known only as the Zone – a place where your own mind is your enemy. The city is in ruins: explore a dreamy landscape through the eyes of a lone wanderer trying to piece together fragments of the past.
Force majeure II: The Zone is an audio-visual interactive story by Leo Nordwall set in a ruined city where everything seems uncertain. The Zone is experienced from a first-person perspective and is navigated by pointing-and-clicking. Photos, drawings, 3D renderings and live video footage have been integrated into a unique visual experience. The soundtrack is over 70 minutes long and featur…es new tracks in the tradition of electro-acoustic music, ambient and electronica.
While there are plenty of interactive works and games that entertain by providing puzzle solving, action and slapstick humour, the Zone is all about exploring the unknown territories of the mind. If you feel that issues such as philosophy, poetry, metaphysics and art is your cup of tea, the story might interest you. If not, the irreal meanderings of the Zone is best left alone.

This game is amazing.
This is the first time that I *really* feel taken into another world by a computer game. It is like when you meet your true love: you realize you had never been in love up to that point. Not even the Myst saga did this for me(*).
Do not play down the ending instructions. They add a lot to the gaming experience. Hint: make sure your Windows screensaver won't kick-in during the ending sequence, or you'll regret it (as I did). If necessary, disable it temporarily.
* This game is not a Myst clone whatsoever.
Purchased the download version of the game about 2 weeks ago off the website based on what I had seen and heard about the subject matter - and it was definitely worth it. A fantastically gripping and intellegent storyline had me glued to my computer for the duration of the game . . . or story, I should say. The Zone most definitely leans more towards an interactive story than an adventure game, as puzzles are kept to a minimum throughout. However, the real puzzle is decoding the reality or better yet the surreality around you. And as a result of such a dense, layered, and well thought out story the lack of logic or inventory puzzles did not bother me in the least. The look of The Zone was also spectacular and extremely successful at creating a unique and believable wasteland atmosphere. These visuals along with the extensive and profound score created a mood not often found in most games. Overall, I was thrilled with The Zone and can only say that I was thinking about it days after I had finished playing. That in my opinion is one of the most import attributes of any quality work of art. I highly recommend The Zone to anyone looking for a stimulating, intellegent, and challenging story - in short: money well spent. However, if puzzles are your only concern, then you might be better served elsewhere. Thanks, and keep it up Leo. I guess now I am going to have to buy it again when the CD comes out ;D
