AGS DocumentationAGS ManualA Little Elaboration on Speech
Adeel S. AhmedI started using Voice Speech and I made a silly mistake. I had used a leading zero before the actual id of my Speech Files. The manual gives some example but doesn't mention that using proper filenames is necessary. That's why I foolishly tried to name my Speech Files as 01, 02 etc. My problem was immediately solved by Crimson Wizard. monkey_05_06 elaborated a bit more. I liked his paragraph, hence I requested the addition of it in the manual so that it may help future AGSers which was followed by a hot debate.

This is thread of which I'm talking about. Overall, many including Crimson Wizard thought that my request was appropriate.

Following is the paragraph which monkey_05_06 explained to me and I thought that other future AGSers can greatly benefit from it too:

Yes, speech files are always named XXXXYYY.EXT where XXXX is the first four letters and/or numbers of the character's name (sans the leading 'c'). So for "cEgo" this is "EGO", for "cGuybrush" this is "GUYB" and for "cRob1" this would be "ROB1". The YYY is the speech file number with no leading or trailing zeroes or padding of any kind. EXT is just the file extension, such as WAV.

So, what do you think about it?
