JJS | The software renderer seems to cause various problems on modern Windows systems. One of them is that the system has to disable desktop composition if the game uses 8 or 16 bit graphic mode. Switching to the D3D renderer is not always possible because it doesn't allow the use of plugins that draw to the screen and it doesn't support 8 bit graphics. Also the rendering output is not always the same as the software driver. So the idea is to create a driver that does all drawing in software but the final rendering to the window is done via D3D or OpenGL. This is how the mobile ports do their drawing. | |
