AGS EngineRendererSoftware rendering with D3D/OGL backend
JJSThe software renderer seems to cause various problems on modern Windows systems. One of them is that the system has to disable desktop composition if the game uses 8 or 16 bit graphic mode.

Switching to the D3D renderer is not always possible because it doesn't allow the use of plugins that draw to the screen and it doesn't support 8 bit graphics. Also the rendering output is not always the same as the software driver.

So the idea is to create a driver that does all drawing in software but the final rendering to the window is done via D3D or OpenGL. This is how the mobile ports do their drawing.
Crimson WizardMight look into this after custom display resolutions.
