i play a avi/mpeg file using 640-480 resolution, i am in full screen mode yet when the video has finished it the game always minimizes itself

Pumaman

Strange... does this also happen if you run the game in a window?

justme1212

no it works fine in windowed mode. I have tried changing the resolutions aswell with no success....Any ideas ?

Pumaman

If you skip the video by pressing ESC, does it still do the same as if you let it run to the end?

Do you have DirectX 9 installed?

justme1212

yes it does the same if i press escape. i have tried different videos and still the same. yes i have the latest direct x installed

Gilbert

Hmmm what is the colour depth of your game?
*I am just guessing* maybe Direct Play needs to play the video in some other colour depths (most likely if the game was 256 colours), so there're some mode swithings, so for some reasons after playing the video, it failed to switch back to the original mode immediately?

justme1212

the game is 32bit true colour so im confused !

Pumaman

Strange, I've never had reports of this before. When the game minimizes, if you click the game icon in the taskbar, does it resume and continue as normal?

Pumaman

What version of Windows are you running?

Pumaman

Bizarre ... has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Yes.  It happened with an AVI file I made with flash.  Same stuff as mentioned above.

Do other videos work ok for you - is it just that one AVI file that causes a problem?

Robert Eric

I tried an MPEG, and a WMV.  Same.  I have DirectX9.0b, and I'm running Windows 2000 Server.

The thread is very old, but the problem is not solved yet. I have the same problem and i don't know the reason for this.

If I change the Graphic Driver in the Setup to Direct 3D 9 it doesn't minimize anymore, but the Videoquality is very bad than  :-[

Please help me  :'(

Pumaman

My best guess is that you have some sort of video driver or codec installed that is causing this behaviour, but I'm not sure what is might be.

Are you having the problem with a game you made, or a game you downloaded? If you made it, what codec is the video using?

It's a game I made and it uses DivX 6.8.4 Codec , I created this Video with Macromedia Flash Professional 8
