Problem playing Ogg Vorbis sounds.

I'm using Ogg Vorbis sounds for my game, but I have a wierd problem. At one point in my game there's a 'BANG' sound effect. Instead of playing properly it plays 'B-B-B-B-B-B-B...' and won't stop until I quit the game. What's weird is, that the same sound plays properly when I play it in a different room script. there are ambient sounds also playing in both rooms.

I've got around the problem by making that sound a .WAV instead of an .OGG, but I was wondering if there might be a better solution. Sorry if I haven't given enough information, audio stuff's not really my bag.

Can you upload the file in question for us to test?

Are the ambient sounds the same in both rooms? Try disabling ambient sound in that room in question and see if the same problem persists (if it persists that means it probably isn't related to the ambient sound).

Can you post the code where you play it? Sounds like you keep playing it over itself by mistake...

I'll upload the .OGG as soon as I get the opportunity.
The ambient sounds are different, I'll experiment with changing them around.

That does sound like the kind of thing I would do and not realise, however, it works properly with a .WAV, so I don't think it could be that. I'll post the code when I get the chance all the same.

Thanks for the help, I'll get back to you with something useful next time I'm not on a library computer!

I seem to remember having problems with very short oggs - but in my case they didn't play at all if I remember correctly. I don't know why I didn't report it at the time. I blame the pressure of OROW.
