Does anyone use the iconbar?

I've been thinking about the GUI design for my game, and I was wondering, does anyone actually use the iconbar to select their cursor in the Sierra-style GUI?  I figure that if everyone uses right-clicking or keyboard shortcuts, that space on the icon bar could be used for a larger inventory window (or something) to pretty it up a bit.  I know that I never use it (it's right-clicking for me ^_^), but is that just my preference?  Would people be annoyed if the icon buttons weren't there?

You could also make them much smaller...

In Automation the icon bar I made is very tiny, the buttons are just blue button images with the cursor images placed on top of them so each one is like 20 x 20 pixels. You could put the 4 buttons on either side of the larger inventory window.

However for me I like using the mousewheel to cycle through cursors but last time I tried it [which was many moons ago] AGS didn't differentiate between scrolling up on the mouse wheel and scrolling down... Or maybe it did and I'm silly stupid

Don't tell me youwere switching between two commands... ;D ;D ;D

Marina: I tihnk you're right, but a hansome GUI does make a good impression, even if small. Keep it but keep it small, like Eric said.

I do use it, I hate games that have only the option to cycle through the cursor modes by right-clicking and lack the icon buttons.

Same here. It's so annoying to cycle through the cursor modes again many times when you miss the mode you are looking for.

MashPotato

Thanks for the responses... it sounds like slightly smaller buttons would be a good compromise.  It's a good thing I asked! ^_^

I use it all the time to get back to the 'walk' cursor quickly. Hardly for anything else.
I believe there's one AGS game out there that has a Sierra'esque toolbar but no walk button; that was annoying.

Oh and yes, you definitely need keyboard shortcuts.
