EDIT: Oh, I forget to mention. This is meant to be an alternative to the "AGS in the media" thread, and an attempt to have all such material in the same place, catagorized and archived.

AGScene!

...is a new blog dedicated to keeping track of print (and web) reviews of games made with AGS.

And it needs...YOU! :o

Well, it needs non-UK AGSers, particularly those from english-speaking countries (USA, Canada, Australia, etc) who have access to gaming magazines from their own countries, and who could scan and upload any print reviews of AGS games (I know that the US editions of PC Gamer and Games for Windows have featured AGS games in the past) for posting on the blog. I pretty much have the UK covered.

The blog would also welcome print reviews (not web-based ones) from non-english speaking countries. In the past many AGS games have featured in Level magazine and such, and scans of these would be much appreciated.

I know not all of you would buy gaming magazines and the like, but if those who do (and have access to a scanner and the time to upload a jpg of the review) could post anything they find in this thread I would be most grateful. You would of course get a credit on the blog.

Thank you. :)

PS: Suggestions and opinions of the blog are also welcome.

Well, I could upload several articles from german magazines, about Apprentice I & II and 7DAS, but you're only looking for english magazines, right?

Ah, okay, thanks. Here's the articles (from GameStar 08/2004  :=)

7 Days A Skeptic
Free translation:
"Friends of classical Point-and-Click-Adventures should take a look at 7 Days a Skeptic. In a distant future, mankind just couldn't stand living on earth anymore and started to settle in space. The Mephistopheles is a science vessel, which is exploring the Caracus galaxs with a crew of six persons. After a few days, the team discovers a strange metal box floating through space. In contradiction to the Federation's orders, the captain pulls it on board for research. This is where the game starts for you: Playing as the crew's psychologist Dr. Jonathan Somerset, you investigae the strange events on board and take care of the crew. To move through the spaceship, click the respective spot with the cursor. If you come acros something interesting, you can open a menu via the right mouse button and choose several actions. The settings menu appears when you touch the screen top with your mouse.

GameStar Valuation (?): Very Good

Too lazy to translate right now :P

(please excuse the poor quality, my scanner kinda sucks)

LimpingFish

Thanks, Akatosh, this is exactly what I'm looking for. :)

The quality is grand, so don't worry about that. I thought about asking people to translate the articles too, but I figured that might be a bit much to expect. So extra special thanks for translating.

As I said, non-english print articles are fine (with or without a translation) as long as I have the name of the magazine and the date issued (but again, it's not essential).

Thanks a lot.

Which issues of the magazines are these from? I'd like to add them to the AGS wiki's media page if you don't mind?

LimpingFish

Sure. :)

The PC Gamer stuff is dated August 2008 (DITR and Charlie Foxtrot) and July 2008 (A years free gaming).

The PC Zone stuff is May (Thrifty Fifty) and June (AGS feature)...I think. I only saved those pages, and they don't print the date at the bottom of each page like PC Gamer. Definitely 2008, though. :-\

Mods, if you are following from Blogger:
-go to you Blogger homepage (or 'Dashboard' for some reason),
-scroll down to the 'Reading List'
-look for a 'Manage' button.
-Then on the next page, click 'Add', and it will let you enter the URL of the blog you want to follow.
