Kudos to those who falled for it, and to those who didn't but played along. You made a great thread and a good laugh!

Not-kudos to those who were just dying to prove themselves smart by revealing the joke :(

Wasn't a bad prank this year. I got fooled a few years back when CJ announced that he was stopping making AGS [edit: or was that the shareware thing instead? I forget] . After that I've always been wary of the internet on April the 1st... It is indeed a scary place.

Tuomas

Bloody hell, the one weekend I was not here but home fixing my brother's computer you people go and do this >:(

Ok I admit I went to #AGS after I saw the new forum look, which I then commented on ::) and asked what the f**k is wrong with the forums. Ishmael I recall linking me to this thread, but I really didn't read it until now. Though I would surely have been fooled pretty bad since for the last 10 years April fools day has been so irrelevant for me, I don't recall even noting the day until now. Thanks for bringing the habit back to me :)

The Bedminster Incident

I stated that I had a "bad feeling" about this, and that I didn't know why.
That was solely for the purpose that I can now prove I didn't fall for it. And that's what apparently many others should have done instead of reveiling the whole thing.

However, that was a great one. I must admit I would've fallen for it if it wasn't for the "new main page." I was in a hurry and therefore couldn't think over what I read. And the game cancellation--I did believe that. Well done, involved ones.

Applause.

A la fin, il y aura seulement de la beauté.

LimpingFish

I didn't fall for it, but I liked watching it unfold.

I must admit I got a bit of a shock when I first saw the forums. :P

All in all, a good jape indeed.

Harhahrahr! You fools me all :D I missed the front page, doh! Did anyone take a screenie? Funny that it fooled some people though! Hehehe! I knew the instant I saw the post that this was just another CJ-naniggan...ol' AGS with its April Fools legacy ;)

Not nearly as clever as FoY on the iPod tho :P

Darn, I missed all the fun (but was very amused reading the whole thread now). :)
Did anybody store the "WMGS" homepage as HTML or JPG or whatever?

Great one! I will have to annoy Mnemonic to get the MP3 support in WME now though...  ;)

The April Fools homepage is still here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/wme.htm
I could bring back the WME forum skin and take a screenshot, but I'm too lazy.

I captured that when I created the official "WTFH I didn't read CJ's thread and started my own" WME thread.

[EDIT:]

"You can also...override and customize build-in methods."

What???  How???

I'm developer, I understand that. Fortunately you had some slav...*hem* friendly users, which did the job. ;)

Wait, after that homepage some guys did NOT get the joke? LMAO... well, must be the ugly design which made them skipping it.
Wait again - actually *I* did that design some time ago...  :o

Cheers!

My, I  almost died of laughing in reading the whole thing!

Yes, I was worry though!

I really didn't fall for it due to the following reasons:

1) I did find strange in reading WME to completely take over.

2) AGS is an excelent tool in developping excellent game such as Prodigal (from Trisk), I took part of the beta testing. If you haven't tried, I highly recommend it.

It's good I read everything before!

Well April fools, your birthday is on April the 1st.
Oh well, happy belated brithday!
