This may not be true, but it is not a joke. In truth, the developers of TADS and HUGO put this out to distract us, so we wouldn't realize they had shut BOTH engines down to facilitate the return of, I quote, "REAL adventure games".

I was hesitant to post, I know how it's kinda pointless in discussions like this, but every year it strikes me how many people fall for this. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the effort, it's original every year, but you know...come on. I haven't been around thÃ¡t long, but I've read CJ's infamous April 1st posts. Like the AGS shareware, remember that one?

Of coarse it's real, after all, April fools ends at midday, and it is 5pm in england where CJ is. I have the beta, and am halfway through making the first RotN game with 3d characters. Its bloody fantastic. I can actually use different angles to create mise-en-scene. Atmospheric, yes. Thanks to the WMGS team.

No, MAGS is a monthly competition to make a small but nice game within certain strict rules. We may have to change the acronym, but that won't change the concept.

The cool part is that certain competitions that traditionally had rather few entries (such as Puzzle Time) will be reinvigorated.

The beta is NOT officially downloadable. It was given to a few people to try out and stuff, and due to technical reasons it needed to be uplaoded too. Apparently it has leaked just a bit. But there's a request out that it wouldn't spread much anymore.
