Why has no one mentioned anything about this?

1. no PC version, so it's just salt on an open wound
2. forgotten about the game since apparently it doesn't work on Win7
...that's about it

Propaganda! ... Propaganda!
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe. Destroyed pigeon nests on the roof of the toolshed. I watched dead mice glitter in the dark, near the rain gutter trap.
All those moments... will be lost... in time, like tears... in... rain."

I still have my Gamecube version. Plays well on the Wii.

I'd still probably play the HD version if was available on the PC.

Got it for Gamecube, actually started it on the weekend, ut has some cool features especially the camera a cool art style awesome music but I still think it's a bit hyped as an underdog classic.

Just completed this on 360 yesterday! Having never played it before, I didn't really know what to expect, but it was most excellent. I didn't really enjoy the stealth sections, but the charm and character of the whole thing really appealed to me.

I have a sneaky suspicion that this re-release it to guage reaction so they can choose to push the sequel, so hopefully it is successful, I'd love to see more!

Regarding the HD release on PC...can't you just up the resolution and settings to maximum...?

No, they created new high-resolution textures for this HD version, as well as less compression on the music, and even some tweaks to the gameplay. It's not really a remake, but more like an upgrade patch. (Though of course it's only available as a stand-alone game purchase.)

mkennedy

What's the resolution of the HD game? MY HD TV says the resolution is something like 1280 by something which is the same as the monitor/video card I'm using. Guess us windows users will just have to stick the original for now, if I can find "Beyond Good & Evil"  on sale for fairly cheap I'll have to get it.

That would make sense. Now that I think about it, I think I read about a remastered soundtrack somewhere. The score was definitely something I noticed throughout regardless.

THAT SAID, the original is £5 on Steam, for anyone interested.

I like that the market allows for publishers to test the water with IPs, such as with Marvel vs Capcom 2 being rereleased onto consoles months before they announced MvC3. Really hope Ubisoft make the right decision with this one.

Eggie

Does it let you play the play the game in French with english subtitles.
I'm soooo curious.

Then twist your ear-holes this way and obtain a free copy of the BvE soundtrack, courtesy of Ubisoft!

Yeah, if you can get the link to work. Tried to open it and no go, then saw it's a zip file and downloaded, when downloaded it's a 244kb file that I can't open... ::)
Was so looking forward to this, I think the site's servers might have overreached their net traffic.

The soundtrack's still available if you know where to look.
Heh, always in the last place you look.  ;D  Thanks.

This game is one of my favorites. It's a really charming quirky game that I recommend anyone to check out if you haven't! There's a lot of adventure esque stuff in there like memorable characters, locations, story, etc. etc.

My housemate ended up getting the original on Xbox a couple of years ago and it turns out that it doesn't even run on the 360, so I had to get the old xbox from the shelf and plug it in just to play the game.  I checked out the HD version and it's pretty much exactly the same except that it definitely looks crisper and shinier. But even the early 2000 look remains there.

Now, when is HD Grim Fandango coming out...?

LucasArts have given the Monkey Island series a fair bit of attention lately, and they know that Grim Fandango is a classic. Time for them to give us a shinier version, perhaps? (or at least one that's easy to get working on modern computers  :'( )

First I was going to say I hope they burn in hell if they make a GF remake but now I'm thinking maybe it could wind up being plain awesome, my mind is seeing beautiful, beautiful things... Then again... considering how blown away I was at the grand suckyness of the MI remakes I'm sure I'd be disappointed. A project of this proportion, playing around with a brand that people love so deeply, is more or less doomed to fail. Too much emotion involved for me to accept anything but sheer awesomeness. Hmm the thin line between brand rape and brand smooching is a very, very delicate one.

A simple patch or something that makes it run properly on a new pc though, I'm definitely all for that. (Though by now my GF cd's have so many scratches in them, I don't know which sides are up or down so I doubt I could get it started anyways...)

mode7

Would be nice yes, I gave up trying to make it run.
Well actually a GF HD remake doesnt seem that unlikely. They just would have to re-render the scenes in hires - give the models some better textures'n stuff  - and better controls would be nice too - that way GF could compete with most modern advenutres.

edmundito

Yep all I want is what mode 7 said, basically what they did to the Beyond Good and Evil remake. It's a pain in the ass to get Grim to run these days, and I'd love for people to really get to play this game again. Tim Schafer and his crew got to be a bit better known after Psychonauts anyway.
