You can't actually link directly to the file on AGSA anyway, I'd have to agree with Radiant and say the best way is to use the "download link" so you don't have to click download twice.
After all, this is one of the reasons I wanted to start AGSA in the first place, to avoid all the extra waiting/clicking that most file hosts force you to do.

It is agreed then, we use the "AGSarchives.com download button link" as download link adress for the AGS game database. (if the particular game is available at AGSarchives.com, that is!)

To everyone that is watching this thread and willing to help out:
You don't actually need admin rights to be able to contribute something. Just choose a few games on the list
(e.g. games beginning with the letter 'E' etc.) and open some kind of document where you copy the screenshot/download link for each game. Either you or us can copy&paste those into the database later on.
(just quickly post what letter you chose, to avoid that two people are doing one letter...eh...sounds kind of kinky.)

selmiak has the # (By the way, I believe you've to hold the mouse button to start "9 minutes! Your late!")

Come on peeps, any takers?

I'm working from T downwards...
I know I can continue with gathering info but it has to be administered in the db at some point. Besides, I have all the images on my harddisk so I choose to upload them from there... That's quicker than loading images from a website...

Sorry all, I was fiddling with the site source late last night, and accidentally removed the group you're all in from the admin list in my tired state.  Should work again now?

I will actually update the lists people have given me soon, I promise!

Narushima

I'll reiterate that I'm doing the Fs. I'm making an excel file similar to the one Stupot posted. I'll post mine in a bit.

Tramponline

OK, I will cover the I,J,K section.

I can't see any option to attach files, am I missing something?

At any rate, I'm doing the Gs next.

Leon

You can't... If you send it to my email, I'll update the records...
Or if AGA gives the right permissions, you can do it yourself?

Okay. I'm just going back through the ABCs using my new powers of editing, and then I'll make a start on MNO.
One game 'Bad Luck' doesn't let me update it and I can't work out why? Any ideas?

Could be because it's marked as weighing 0MB. I have the same problem with "Geometric Shapes 1 - Circleboy".

Sorry for the double post but I get a Editing game failed. when trying to add an image to Gone, My Angel, Gone

Speaking of AGSA, could you please make it so that the "A game by <name>" text links to a list of all games by that author?

Also, how can I update my games' entries on AGSA? For instance, a number of them have had language packs added. Speaking of which, it would also be nice if you could search for e.g. "all games in Spanish".

Yeah this was what I was getting with Bad Luck... the file size is filled in as normal.
[Edit]  Solved, I actually read AGA's post properly and typed "Author: " in the field at the bottom.

Maybe because the author is missing? Not sure. Worked for me one time.

If there's no one credited for the game, or the file size is zero it won't like it.  If you can't work out the person's forums username, you can just copy the 'author' information from further up, and leave the credits blank, like "author: " and it'll work.

The earlier games like Wet often don't have credits, because I think that feature was hacked in after the initial database driven system was created.

Some more intelligent error reporting would probably be a good idea, I'll think about doing that at some point.

For that game it would be Tildy

Type in:
"Tildy: Author"   or "Creator" or "Author of the game" not sure what's more appropriate??? (game creators can edit it later to their liking)
...in the box at the bottom of this entry.

That way Tildy would be able to edit the entry too.

Good, that worked. Thanks.

Edit: doing the Hs now. I'm leaving behind those I couldn't even find (some have just broken links: "game that will be deleted" (Seeing how the description is "The author wants that this entry becomes deleted! Thanks." and that it's classified as a "training game", maybe it really should be deleted.), "Goose Quest 1 DEMO", "Gil: The Trillion Dollar Journey DEMO" and "Gerald Ratcliff I");
and those I couldn't get to work: "Granny Zombiekiller Demo" and "Granny Zombiekiller in Mittens Murder Mystery".

May I donwload comments that just say "the download link doesn't work" when I've fixed it?

Good point, I was wondering about that. AGA? Should we delete comments just saying download doesn't work?
