I have to make an adventure game for art school until xmas and already made up some ideas and an overall theme but I really need your help to make the game actually playable...Ã,  :(

(Since it is for an art class I think I need to convey a message and I chose: "Nothing can give us true orientation in life - neither science nor religion nor art&culture)

I want the message to be in background, the game must be fun.Ã,  ;D

So far I thought I'd do the following:

You are trapped inside a building/labyrinthÃ,  in which the is no top and no bottom, you can walk on walls and roofs.

a bit like in this picture:

there are 3 main rooms with a main character in each:
- a savant
- a religion guru / a philosopher/ a monk
- an artist

The player wants to get out and when he asks them, he only gets stupid answers:

- when asking the savant what's the heck with this labyrinth, he answers that the volume of the lab. is 535m³, the atomic density is 54 microphalar, blahblah.... a²+b435......

-the monk tells you that the right way to find the true destination is to pray...Confucius says....

- the artist just shows you drawings and paintings of labyrinths, he thinks distraction might make you feel better...

Each character responds in his own way, but actually can't give you orientation...
They are meant to be ridiculously stubborn in their subject. :)

Then, I only have some possible endings:

- the player wakes up in bed, "pooh, it was just a nightmare..."
Ã,  BUT: the ending video is shown upside down, meaning that the nightmare continues in real life.

- the player gets printed out in is "free" (I'm not sure if I can do that)

- and I have some more endings, but I'm not sure if it makes sense to post all of them :)

---------------

This is what I have yet... and some more details and sketches... but please I need your help for the gameplay!

I need to define a goal and the puzzles all lead to acomplishing the goal, right?

So the goal is getting out of the house - what could the player actually do, other than walking around, in order do achieve that goal?

Any Ideas are very welcome!!

that place remembers me the old movie Labyrinth, the one with David Bowie you know. I could suggest you to take inspiration there but I can't remember the ending  :)

However,is there any reason that brings you inside the labyrinth? Maybe you should think about an ending together with a more concrete beginning.
Typically, normal life is stopped by a big problem and you are supposed to restore everything with your voyage...

If I remember well, David kidnapped the girl's little brother...  ;D think about something similar. Actually, an enemy (not David!) could fit your story well...

What if the aim is to get them to stand on each others shoulders to reach a skylight (or floorlight if the room is realy messed up). That's symbollic AND comical.

Arrakis81:  I watched the movie for the purpose of inspiration but actually I think the movie is really bad fantasy crap! :)

Arrakis & Eggie:
Yesterday I had a meeting with my arts teacher and I told her what I already have and showed her some sketches.

Even before I was able to tell her that I am desperate because I don't have any real gameplay she was overwhelmed by the idea and thought it would be perfect the way it is, without puzzles, just some kind of world to explore.

So That's what I'll do. I don't have enough time to elaborate a good gameplay and design beautiful graphics both at the same time...

Btw, I think it will be boring only if you expect it to be a challenging adventure game. If you expect a movie (I think my teacher seems to) you'll be surprised that there is some interactivity.

Anyway I'd like to thank you for the will to help me!  :) :) :)

As for the new ending of the game:

I don't want to reveal it yet, since you might be interrested in playing it.  ;)
