Games that should get their fangames?

As you all know, Monkey Island and DOTT have tons of fangames. Sam & Max, Zak McKracken and Broken Sword have much fewer. Runaway has just one (and so do Toonstruck and Jack Orlando), and many adventures (especially the less known ones) have none at all. What adventures, in your opinion, should get a fangame? (some specific fangame ideas, like titles, plot details and preferred graphic styles, are welcome).

Wishbringer, Simon the Sorcerer, Kyrandia. And also I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream.

Wishbringer's my favourite; I have even started some work on a graphical remake. It would make the perfect template for a small AGS game (SWARM project comes to mind). Could be a rather simple graphic style, somewhat King's Questish. The game map isn't that large and the plot is small, and I think it would work well with the MegaVerb template.

Can you give a link to this? I didn't know anyone besides me had even heard of Jack Orlando, much less liked it enough to make a fan game.

If I were ever to buy an IP to make a game in someone else's universe, it would be The Space Bar.  Best (deeply flawed) game ever!

Hope you get further than that other guy a few years back who was reusing Return to Zork's graphics did.

Yes, I'd love to have a version of The Space Bar with a decent user interface and some of the rough edges polished.

The Enchanter trilogy!
Awesome games, each for different reasons!
Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

Nah, me and my mum have both played it too.  I quite liked it.

Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, and Metroid, the adventure games. Mortal Kombat. Jazz Jackrabbit. Alan Wake. Dead Space. Mass Effect. Resident Evil. Sweet Home.

Nice to see Jazz Jackrabbit mentioned. I'd add Halloween Harry as another 90s PC platformer.

For adventures... I'll second Simon the Sorcerer. I was put off the new games utterly by the trailer which just looked painfully un-Simon like.

One of the big ones for me is Discworld. 3 solid games (I wouldn't go so far as to say great because all have their flaws) and a massively popular franchise with tons of nerdy fans... I've been amazed that their hasn't been fan sequels for Rincewind or Lewton's ongoing adventures.

Lack of a fan Full Throttle 2 is also conspicuous. I mean, it has an open ending..

This came up before when someone (maybe Cyrus?) asked a similar question about remakes instead of fangames, but yes, SOMEONE PLEASE REMAKE SIMON THE SORCERER 3 IN 2D!

As far as fan-games, I always thought Beneath the Steel Sky built up a detailed and interesting world to have many other games in :D.

There was a German team working on it, but it's beyond safe to say that project is dead by now. And they didn't seem to be terribly ambitious - backgrounds were scarcely detailed and they were just using the voice files from the game. It didn't take long to realise how many problems that would create with puzzles that would need to be entirely re-worked in 2D.

I would like to see it done simply so people could enjoy Simon 3. It is - and I must be the only person to say this - one of my absolute favourite adventure games. It's very fun, very long and its plot got pretty epic by the series standards. Sadly, it was glitchy and ugly nearly nobody seemed to really get into it...

I saw glimmers of what could've been a good game, Jared, I just couldn't stand the interface and handling and graphics and controls enough to find out. I am surprised you were able to.

Snatcher

(Nothing to do with Hideo-whathisface. I just think we need more 90's cyberpunk adventures)

Thanks! I found some references to a 1.5, but never found anything definite. Looks like this never got to demo phase, which is a shame.

I definitely second Snatcher. Also Alone in the Dark and Call of Cthulhu.

Scooby-Doo Mystery (the SEGA game).

SinSin

The Curse of Enchantia (amiga)
Goblins
The Grim Fandango
I like the idea of a Kyrandia mini series
