The Last Express is a game I remember reading about as a kid, forgetting about as a teenager and remembering and wanting as a twenty-something.

It's notoriously hard to track down, like many older games, however it is now happily available from DotEmu, so I thought I'd share in case there were others out there like myself who found themselves interested in the game but not in possession of a copy.

I've yet to get a copy, but am quite thrilled to see another well loved classic finally easily available for purchase.

I've just ordered it, so will report back as to how it runs, etc. Never played it before, but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Taking its time to download - just over 1.4GB.

Edit: It runs perfectly fine for me on Windows 7 64-Bit, with only a few visual hiccups, but due to the unique visual style of the game, its hard to know if they were present in the original or not. Looks like a very interesting game nonetheless. Very reminiscient of Myst in some ways. I will definitely give it more time when I have some free. :)

This game's re-release is indeed excellent news. The price is good too.

I found it in a charity shop a few years ago (what a day that was...). It's a truly great game, and very original.

I only hate that it's timed. You can search around for the creative director (I think) and his Vimeo video page, there's a whole playthrough and you get the entire story, as someone who never managed to finish it (the complete/longest ending) even after more than 12 times, I found it useful.
Definetly liked the for style and story but playing it was stressful.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

After all these years, even as my interest shifted from adventure games to FPSs, The Last Express is still the best game I've ever played.  I'm over the moon that more people will finally have a chance to play it!

DuncanFX: I'm looking forward to your report. Feels far from obvious that this would run smoothly today.

Thanks for the heads up Ben! I've been wanting to try that game out for a long time...

A wonderful game.  Overwhelming in the freedom it gives you in such a tight space.

Ah yes, I love these kind of focused games.

If you were thinking about buying this but haven't, it is now available from GOG.com as well, for an even lower price (although it doesn't seem to come with a downloadable soundtrack like the dotemu version does)

Hey, it's indie gaming. We like saving money!

That game should be studied in schools.

Was there a demo of this doing the rounds?  Because I'm 90% sure I've played this, but pretty sure I never bought it or downloaded it... not a full version anyway.  I mustn't have thought much of it if I've forgotten it so easily.

Doesn't seem to cover much though.

It's a forgotten gem, must get. I suggest the the gog.com version since it includes a making of video.
