One thing that might be interesting (and I sort of regret suggesting it because I'm way too lazy to ever do it) is to have the game creators themselves do a sort of Let's Play of their own game, but do a DVD-style commentary as they go along, talking about making the game, etc.

I was actually planning on doing this with my next game :D

You should though. At least one of the remakes, so we can get an idea of why you wanted to change/update things etc. [threat]If you don't then I will tear your games apart![/threat]

The only person in favour of the mobs seems to be IndieBoy.. but he's scottish so we dont listen to him anyway.

I actually love author commentary on games and It's definitely something I'll do for McCarthy once the trilogy is finished.

So no in-game commentary for the BJ2 remake? I was looking forward to that after listening to your entertaining and educational comments in BJ7.

Also love Dave's commentaries on the Blackwell games (though he did seem to run out of things to say by the second half of Convergence - I actually went to the menu to check that the commentary mode was still turned on) - this is definitely something I will do for my own game when it's released, I find it adds a lot of replay value (at least for one additional playthrough).

Not to say that I don't think it couldn't also work well as a video. In fact, it may be a better format since it allows you to talk over gameplay and cutscenes as opposed to in-game commentaries that usually pause all action. Telltale Games also did some nice commentaries over recorded videos of the Sam & Max games (unfortunately now removed from the website but available on the DVD-ROM version) where they cut out most of the gameplay, which was OK since the games are so cutscene heavy. Not sure you could really do that for a typical AGS game, but some editing might be a good idea in games with lots of fetch quests.

Here's my part one of Matt to the Future!
I do apologize for Matt's mom's voice :P
Sorry there wasn't any true 'playing' per se, but my voice is really killing me today :<

I watched the video, and it was pretty good. However, I'd suggest you wait for your sickness clears up before you continue, so you don't need to worry about your voice bothering you and making you cut videos short. Either way, I'm looking forward to part 2.

Snake

lol!

Although I loved it, the voices you chose are horrible! I couldn't stop laughing, but at the same time I was cringing every time either Kristen or I had things to say...lol. Niether of us sound anything like that ;) Great job on Matt's voice, though :=
Grim: "You're making me want to quit smoking... stop it!;)"

Hehe. I'm sorry but it was too much fun. If you'd like I can try more normal voices for the next one :P

Snake

Heh, I just watched it again :) It's fine. You can use whatever voices you want, it's your playthrough, I don't mind! I enjoyed it very much ;D

As long as you're sure, I'm not trying to mock the game so much as just make it more entertaining for anyone that watches, if it bugs you at all just let me know.

So I've done Matt to the Future and Deity...I'm thinking a Ben Jordan next? (If anyone has something they wanna see, just tell me.)

Dualnames

Yeah, sure. I'm thinking of doing either HHGTG or...even better go ahead and do Barn Runner!
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

loontje

I've done two let's play's so far. One of "mixed up fairytales" and one of "Torin's passage".

I'm working up the courage to do the commentary for my third let's play, "Legend of Kyrandia: hand of fate".... I actually borrowed that CD from a friend of mine, that was months ago and I haven't returned it yet because I still want to double check dosbox recorded everything properly. My buddy is okay with it though. Really. :P  Also, the loss of image quality when uploading to youtube bothers me. Maybe I'm just very critical and demanding when it comes to mage quality though.  :-\

Force Majeure II: The Zone included a similar design in it's original plans. Unfortunately it had to be dropped in order to meet the publisher's deadline. The idea was to include a second, separate executable with a creator's video commentary featuring me, sitting confortably on cushions, smoking cherry nargila in full Zone oneironaut regalia (as seen in-game).

The interaction would play as a common branched dialogue, with the player selecting lines to say from a list to make an interview. Of course, the options available would depend on progression made in the story, effectively creating a dynamic where exploration unlocks further discussion on certain topics, which could add more depth to the storyline as well as a few explanations of exactly why things are like they are in the zone. (This dialog technique would be similar to the ones used when meeting the white zone wanderer at the Rendez-vous Point which change a lot depending on progression.)

Further radical ideas in this direction was to let these discussions with the oneironaut later bleed into the actual game, such as ghost static voices appearing in radio broadcasts or in the ambiance or by placing manila envelopes addressed to the player in certain locations, containing tapes with commentary, notes, threats, et cetera.

Well. A bit elaborate perhaps, but still intriguing experiments of sorts.
