Huh, I was just about to volunteer to do Colin, because he's my second favourite Doctor.

I'm admittedly not all that up on Doctor Who since I don't watch it all that much, but as far as I know Colin Baker isn't exactly a fan-favourite... Still, as they say, every character is SOMEONE'S favourite.

Colin was pretty badly treated by BBC management at the time. The audio stories he's done past few years though have been very good indeed.

For some reason I'm more a fan of the idea of Doctor Who more than the actual show... It's the type of thing I like to research and read about, but I hardly ever actually watch it. I couldn't really get into the new show since my friends are either disinterested like me or adamantly dislike it because they're fans of the older one, and I never really got the chance to see any of the older stuff.

As I said though, I like the idea of it, and putting that idea in an adventure game format seems like a pretty good match. I like seeing collaborative works come together too.

I was bored so I did a quick pixel-doodle of Matt Smith's 11th Doctor.

It's a little simplistic and the shading is all over the place, though.

P.S. the legs are awful. If anyone wants to make this look better then they are welcome to use it.

Jared

Yeah, I was going to say can the graphics be fairly collaborative? I'm not great at pixel art, and my backgrounds are even lamer. So... I can do my game totally on my own but it will look like "Doctor Who Visits RON". (The Krysis style graphics at least, but that's about my limit)

You mean something like this?

Jared

...okay, that's officially badass. With your blessing I'm using that Colin, too.

(After I posted I tried to do a Krysis-Colin to post here, but that effort shames mine..)

Speaking of collaborative art. I don't know about anyone else here, but I'm planning on just dumping the sprites I use into a big folder and putting them up for anyone to root their way through. Not that I'm any good at art anyway.

Anyway, don't overly concern yourself with graphics at the moment Jared, just dive in, slap something together. At the moment, this is all about getting some momentum going. I'm using 90% programming graphics at the moment, you'd be amazed how many blue cups are kicking around the place...

Renegade, what the hell is up with Tom Baker? Is he on drugs or something? I've never seen such a happy timelord...

Oh, I'm here and now shotgunning Tennant, given that I'm within stones throw of finishing the first mini episode. Though there's nothing preventing anyone else from taking a crack at him as well.

Amusingly I read Jared's post as '(the Crysis style graphics at least, but that's about my limit.)'
If my graphical limit was Crysis, I'd probably be fairly happy with that.

Lets see... hat, hair, scarf, wild eyes, mad toothy grin... yep, he checks out as the fourth Doctor.  ;D

Anyway, here's the full sheet of Doctors I did a while ago before Matt Smith was revealed as the 11th.  I'd used the actor's heights to determine how tall the sprites were.  Plus, alternate costumes, heads, two versions of the sonic screwdriver and the TARDIS.

Taking it to the max, eighties style.

Renegade Implementor, those sprites are great. Loving the 80s ones, too, Cirius! The Daleks are brilliant! :)

Maybe you should consider using 80s colors too - 16 or 4, not 256  ;)

Cirius

Hmmmmmm.....no.

I like colours. Colours are good.

Hellz yeah,  I just saw the advert they had on after...erm...I doubtless legally somehow acquired the episode from here in Korea. Anyhow, it *does* look awesome, and I'm kind of glad it's got Smith in it.

Wasn't there a parody of the Doctor in "The Galaxy of Fantabulous Wonderment"? or some game?

Cirius

'Charlie Foxtrot & The Galaxy of Tomorrow' featured a rather Tom Baker looking chap, who lived in a phone box and had a robot dog. I'm presuming that's what you're referring to. I vaguely recall wandering round the interior of the Tardis and being reminded of the maze segments of Zac Mckracken.
