Cube was an O.K. movie that could have been so much better....As for a game, it does set up perfectly, Crazy characters, death scenes, where am I story line, puzzles galore to progress through the cubes....Darth Mandarb is on to something.

The Princess Bride, I totally agree would be awesome! A few that nobody's mentioned: Planet of the Apes -- that would awesome! And the Bourn trilogy, as well as The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
I'm always right. And don't try to argue because someone who's always right is gonna be right about always being right!

a good adventure game about the justice system would be nice. no law and order that's too episodical.

-a few good men
-jfk
-a time to kill
-just cause
-the verdict

good games about non-cops fighting the system, unraveling conspiracies, digging in the past etcetera.
Moué: [To the dead Plantard] Stop that Monsieur! Stop holding your breath at once!
Rosso: Has it occurred to you that he may be dead, Moué?
Moué: Oui Monsieur. But I prefer to look on the bright side.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

That was already done as a blend of adventure game and RPG in the 90s.

Ah, that Melbourne House game?  Frodo is Hale and Hardy!  Loved that game for its unique style.  The adventure element didn't really work though.

And its sequel.

There are also older illustrated Interactive Fiction LOTR and Hobbit games. The Hobbit one was quite well known in its time.

Firefly / Serenity would make a good, sandbox setting.

And while this dates me terribly, I think a game based on either Tales of the Gold Monkey or The Rockford Files would be a pretty interesting one.

And I've always wanted a Star Wars adventure game that didn't focus on the Force. I'd much rather play as a Lando Calrissian gambler type than a jedi of any flavor. I've always thought the Star Wars setting would be an interesting one to explore from an "everyman's" perspective.

Tales of the Gold Monkey

8) 8)
Not that would make an awesome game - would obviously suit an episodic format too!  Plus, remembering that doesn't make you old... at least, not unless I'm old too.

Oh...  :'(

Mouth for war

Hmm...Maybe The Goonies could be a pretty cool adventuregame (I know of the earlier platform games)even though the movie had quite a few characters it could be cool to use that in the game too maybe...Data being the tech specialist, Brand being the muscles etc. maybe a mix of Gobliiins and Indy hehe :D
mass genocide is the most exhausting activity one can engage in, next to soccer

Darth Mandarb

I actually started to work on this a few years ago... had sprited up the main characters too:

Miez and I (at Mittens 2008) discussed the future potential of collaborating on it!  I'd still love to do it at some point!

Yup!  And the backgrounds could all, essentially, fit into a 'template' if you will so the production time would be decreased!  Just change some colors and a few details here and there and you have a new screen.  Throw in some clever puzzles and some gore and voila!

Secret Fawful

I just randomly got this idea in my head today. What about Homeward Bound: The Adventure Game.

[no, I am not making this]

"The Frighteners" of course, watched it again last night, still a very adventureish movie.
I don't want the world, I just want your half

Gilbert

Home Alone of course, in good old Sierra spirit (Infocom text adventures work too), where there are numerous ways to kill the protagonist (and the bad guys as well).

Spoiler
No matter how crappy the movie can be and no, I actually never watched it. ;D

What a coincidence, Secret Fawful, my 4 year old is currently obsessed with that movie.

I saw that movie a hundred times as a kid and loved it - the sequels were horrible - the 3rd was an abomination). I think it would make a great adventure game as well, whether it's Sierra style or Lucas Arts (although I think Lucas Arts would be better suited). Just as long as it wasn't done in the vain of Night Trap - that's what I keep imagining it ending up as, unfortunately.

The following is not a movie, but a commercial. It'll seem a little silly, but I always thought that the WORLD depicted in these commercials would make a great setting for an adventure game:

I bring to you, the VESIcare commercials!

I can't find the most recent commercials that show the surrounding city and building structures more, but minus having to take a piss every five minutes, I think the world within these commercials would create a great setting for an adventure game.

I seem to remember there already being a Home Alone game...maybe it was for one of the consoles? If I'm remembering right, it was a sort of 2D platformer thing whereyou had some time to set up all the traps. then the enemies would come rushing in.
The ultimate Professional Amateur

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

I remember that one for Game Boy, but I only played it for a few minutes. It was confusing if I remember right. Actually, I think it may have been Home Alone 2...

I totally agree. Not so coincidentally, Firefly is one of the inspirations for Quasar.

I remember being obsessed with it when I was a kid. :D

That is a great mockup, doing it in that Sierra photo art style would be great too. I would love to make that. And the three people puzzles would be fun to switch between characters.

Nick O.

I think Blues Brothers would make a great adventure game. Think of that: two incredibly different main characters, nonsensical but funny plot, great NPCs, some mini-games (pursuit-scenes and stuff), plus, of course, music.
Jacob's Ladder would be good thing to do too (though there is a game based on this movie, and it's called Silent Hill).
The Seventh Seal - great surrealistic epic, it would be fun to play as Death ::).
Some old Bogart movies could make good movies too.

To think about it - this list could be really, really big.

Ali

Someone is probably going to tell you off for digging up an old post...

But before they do I wanted to congratulate you on your choice of films. Actually, I haven't seen Jacob's Ladder, but the rest are all great. A Blues Brothers adventure game would be amazing. (I think it's no coincidence that Sam & Max drive pretty much the same car as Jake & Elwood...)
