Anybody have a favorite AGS game that most people ignore or don't put in the "canon" of classic must-plays?

I have one: Escape from Evergreen Forest.  It has logical puzzles, a great setting, and a pretty funny wizard.  What more could you want?

I'm a huge fan of Alkis' Other Worlds. I think a lot of people avoid it because of the strange mix of photographic backgrounds and MS-Paint characters, but the plot is great and there's tons of fun and innovative puzzles in there. Especially the use of magic spells which reminded me quite a bit of Loom. Actually I find that the story and gameplay superior to the creator's later and much slicker looking commercial game, Diamonds in the Rough.

Nice thread Moody!

My hidden gem is the Bunker.

It's a game packed with humor, logical puzzles and witty dialogues and I like to replay it now and then!

Gahhh, the download link is broken! Can I ask you the favour to upload please? :P You got me curious! :)

I think I remember The Draft Drifter Who Dashed Doctor Dunno being pretty hilarious. I have few games saved in my IMPORTANT folder that travels from computer to computer as they get upgraded and this game is still in the folder since 2005 so... That's something!

Haha, I remember that one, MrColossal. Fun little game with some good and surprising uses of non-original music. I even still remember a couple of the puzzles.

I ask you the same favour I've asked Moody! (btw: the link is a bit messed up)

A relatively new one, but obscure enough to have gone by below most people's radars is Good Morning, Mister Gingerbread - in fact one of the few AGS games of the last year I played at one go without looking anything up, getting impatient or using every inventory item with the door.
I, object.

Ishmael

I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

<Calin> Ishmael looks awesome all the time

Thanks MrColossal! Working and very enjoyable game (I'm currently trying to guess how to help indy...)!

I'm a secret fan of Frank the Farmhand.  Not for any reason than I just really enjoyed playing it.

Ace Starkiller in: Hillbilly Burger Bastards.

For my money one of the best games made in AGS. And it's not even in the DB!

MrColossal

Oh crap... there was another game that I thought was hilariously written, it wasn't much of a game but it was about a soldier from DOOM having to buy a present for a boss from DOOM... As you can tell my memory is awesome. Anyway I think it was hilarious!

Heh, Hillbilly Burger Bastards is barely recognizable now compared to the original release ^_^, so eventually you'll be getting a whole new game (if you're good!).

As far as favorite low-radar games, I'd say at the top of them for me is  No-Action Jackson, which is probably one of the most visually polished (though buggy) early AGS game.  I think Cerebrit did a wonderful job with it overall and go back to play it every now and again, much like I do with all my old favorite commercial games.  Since BFS is down I've uploaded it to mediafire for those who want it:  http://www.mediafire.com/?ztwgmnejnjd

Other gems are Apocalypse: Vel, which in spite of being a bit of a joke game is still quite enjoyable, Grundislav's Secret of Carver Island also has a quirky charm to it, and The Great Stroke Off which is another humorous game made for OROW.

Edit:  Turns out I had already played DDDDD a long time ago, so no surprise super game for me :(.

That one was actually made for ATC.

I must jump the DDDDD bandwagon too, as I've already sent some brown nosey fan mail to the author some time ago, hoping to hear from the sequel. ;D

DDDDD was and is still one of my favourite AGS games.

Thanks Ben, didn't have that one!!

And my addition is The Farm. A very special way of interaction and very bizarre puzzles.
