It could just be my computer acting up, but that's a nice 404 you've got there.

LimpingFish

Works fine for me ;D

Its a big image (500kb+)

Maybe that could be affecting it?

It's not working here, either...

Perhaps a case-error in the filename?

Thats weird...

Can you actuallty see the link on my site? Or is my site not even coming up?

If you can see the link, try Right-Clicking and 'Save Image as...'

I can't see any problem from this end.

I could put it in the middle of a post here, but as i said, its a big image file.

EDIT: Sorry, I meant 'Save Target as..' ::)

Nice interview. Thanks for uploading it.

Quote[Tim Schafer] suggested we think of game development as a little black box with various inputs: Star Wars, Tolkien [or Dungeons and Dragons], Blade Runner, and a few board games.

I think this is happening all over the place, including in the underground adventuring and adventure games in general. Except that the templates are Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones, King's Quest (kind of like Tolkien & Dungeons and Dragons), Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, and The Longest Journey.

Nicely put. 8)
Its also good to see that the imagination and humor of his LucasArts days, was able to find a home in Psychonuats.

Its a shame that it probably won't sell that well... :'(

I love how the article is about Tim Schaffer and yet they have a huge 2 page image taking up more room than the words of a star wars image...

That's why I've urged everyone who I know who plays video games to buy Psychonauts. I've already sold two people, and I know of a third who's going to buy the PS2 port. It seriously is, in my opinion, the best game that's come out this year, and I hope that it sells as well as it should.

I pirated Psychonauts out of impatience.
I'll admit at least that.
But whenever it gets here, I am so going to buy it.
Seriously. Even though I already have it, and almost finished it, I simply cannot wait to spend my money on that little piece of pure awesome.
And I sure as hell am going to pimp it to everyone I know.

Ginny

My graphics card needs replacing to play it, but I'm going to buy it anyway, and have patience until I can get a new card :).

Btw, in case someone hasn't seen this, there's an old interview with Tim Schafer here: http://gamestudies.org/0301/pearce/
It's pretty long and I found it quite interesting. I never knew Tim gave so many interviews.

Thanks, I never read that Schafer Interview before. :)
It tells us a lot about his approach to character and story development.

The other interviews in the archive seem interesting too.

Good call, Ginny! ;D

You can also see a video interview with Mr. Schafer.

I posted this 2 weeks ago in the gen discussion and it seemed to have dissapeared without a single reply.  :(

He was also on a show called ICONS which was very good.

Scummbuddy

Yeah, I taped that Icons episode on my computer. I have a secret download location of it right now, but I hope to have a larger version of it available tomorrow.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

From the interview:

"The games industry can't afford to lose its brightest minds"

Kind of a sad quote, because in reality I think it probably can and will afford it just fine.

I love Tim Shafer: he doesn't like how things are going, but he doesn't give up by selling out or hiding away in a marginalised nostalgic niche in some dusty corner of the industry. Instead he tries something new to show how his creative ideals can be housed in fresh, exciting forms. But he'll never make any money. Double Fine will surely go under eventually, and that will be a dismal day.
