Title for a new game

im about 75% into making my first game and i was wanting to give it a name like the dr who episodes have ie Caves of the androzani . Spearhead from space. something with that sort of ring to it anyway.

The main thing the characters up against is small hairy cataerpillar type monsters.

so if anyone has any good ideas for the title then please post them here.

the best one will be used as the title and the submitter will get a credit in the credits

What are the catepillar monsters called? I've always like titles like, "Vengeance of the [Monster Name]" or "In the grip of [Monster Name]" or something. That old scifi serials type of titles like [gasp!] The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones.

I was going to call them the "Solonoids"

i wanted to get a list of titles going but they dont have to have solonoids in the title but something to do with haairy catterpillars

How about "Revenge of the hairy caterpillar thingys", "Attack of the Solonoids". Or u could have just plain "Solonoids!!". If i heard more about your game i could give you some better game names.

i dont really want to give to much away but its not going to have jokey conversations like monkey island but then again its not going to be to emotional like that mags game with the pirate
(i cant remember the name it was a bit like monkey island and made by some german guy i think). It is my first game so im not aiming to make it a 5 days a stranger or anything.

I think vengeance of the solonoids would be a good name for a sequel

OK, ummm u could call the caterpillar things 'The Labour Party' cuz they probly look like Tony Blair,lol. A funky name for the caterpillars could be "THE UTINALS". bit cheesy

but its the best i can come up with.

Seriously though, I'd either avoid putting the word in the title, or use only the word, like in "Alien" or "Predator". If you're going for a serious game, titles like "Revenge/Wrath/Attack of the..." is likely to give a cheesy impression.

Also, and this is pure personal opinion, to me "Solonoid" sounds like someone describing a lonesome geek while using a Brooklyn accent.

well, here's what i think for a title, it's a game about caterpillar creatures, and caterpillars have lots of legs, so, why not call it something like "Legs", it has the horror theme about it, bit like "The Birds" or "The Thing"...

I like your suggestions. Perhaps something like "The Crawling" or "The Scuttling", if those aren't movie titles yet, in reference to the werewolf movie "The Howling".

A final suggestion: Wait until the game is 100% or 99% finished - most of the time a title will occur to you at the very end when you have a complete mental overview of the whole project. Otherwise your name will likely shape the rest of the project and you may find yourself forcing your original story into different directions just to fit the title. Happened to me more than once when I was younger...
