Ugh, Broken Sword for GBA. It's so full of bugs they could have filled a National Geographic documentary with it...

The "out of heap space" error in KQV is the only one that comes to mind, but it's a pretty bad one.  It's the reason why I never finished the game. :(

Error 52, but I found a fanpatch recently that makes it work miraculously (even on Vista!)

LSL2 not understanding "bag" as a synonym for "airsick bag"

No, that's not the real reason. It's a serious bug that's documented, even in Al Lowe's own page.

Back at the time I played the game communication wasn't that advanced and I didn't have any network access. I was frustrated (to state the worst that was the very last parser command in the game) because I could never beat the game but other people could. I asked those who had beat the game but no one knew why.

Only until I had Internet access I discovered from sites like GameFAQs that there was indeed a bug and after having stucked for more than 10 years I could beat the game for the first time.

Now, that's my own story.

Interesting. That's the first good description I've seen of it; general solutions I've read so far were somewhat over the top like "insert the airsick bag into the hair rejuvenator bottle" (and I am quite sure that typing "airsick bag" works even without using "the").

Ironically, from that same page, Al is oh so proud of the way he implemented the maze in LSL3, but neglects to mention that the same trick was used in e.g. SQ1 and KQ3 :P  (heck, the ability to do so is a major feature in how AGI was designed)

Almost. That's the message the game (and other SCI games) display when something else causes them to crash. If you've ever seen an AGI game crash (and I have) you'll know that this is an improvement :)

I remember playing Monkey Island with my brother and dinner was ready so we went downstairs to eat and left the game just sitting there. When we came back there was an error, something about a Parity Check failing or whatever... We had to restart the computer and do this whole section over again.

Some days later we were still playing Monkey Island and my brother wanted to take a shower but didn't want to turn off the game so he had me sit there and move the mouse around and look at inventory items... I was FORBIDDEN to play the game, just look at things and DON'T walk around!

Needless to say you ignored him and finished the game.

:)  Cute story!  (But why didn't your brother just save the game?)

The game was saved but I guess we didn't want to turn the computer off only to turn it on again in 20 minutes when he was done with his shower. Lazy...

On the other hand, I got to read every pamphlet in the inventory like 12 times!

I bet you could probably rattle them off from memory.

For me the fact Broken Sword Advance broke if you did it in the wrong order ( PRIEST GIMME MY SILVER), or the fact that Torin's passage wouldn't save for me.

Torin's Passage is like my favourite AG ever.

I'd say that sickbay bug in Space Quest 6 which took me 7 years to discover how to overcome, the bug that crash the floppy version of King's Quest 5 two actions before the end of the game (that has to be one of the most insulting bug ever), and all those fatal errors in No Action Jackson. I try to find more but those are the only frustrating bugs I can think of.

Trying to get Monkey Islands 3 & 4 to run on an operating system made after Windows 98. Mother of god, It's hard. At least MI3 can be run on Scummvm, MI4 is unplayable for me  :'(. While MI4 isn't the best adventure game (or anwhere near the best) I feel a little saddened that I can't complete the series.

Also, sam & max constantly crashed when I owned it originally, but Scumvm fixed that. Yay for ScummVm!
