New Wars (Beta-Test and Spanish-English translation needed)

4 Different units : soldiers, tanks, artyllery and towers (defense only). Improve your attack and your defense researching technologies, increase your money with investments, spy your enemy... a lot of different ways to win the war!!

Game user interface includes:

-Minimap to control the overall situation (game map is 1280*840).
-Wheel support to scroll the main map.
-Custom autosave, save game and restore game.
-Drag&drop windows for a better administration of the game.
-Shortcut keys for everything you can do in the game.
-Custom help.








Some graphic improvements (we hope so) and last buttons in the status bar added. Working in more graphics (main background, animations, flags, options menu) and looking for free sound effects to add.

At this point, overall progress is as follow:

Scripting: 95 % (maybe some extra features will be added before release)
graphics: 50 % (There is a lot of work to do yet)
sound & music: 0 %
Release Estimation: Around May 15th (including english translation)
Documentation will be in PDF format (Spanish only  :()

PS If anyone want contribute with a translation to any language, just let us know and we could send you the txt file. Its only 120 lines to translate  (nobody? just 120 lines?)

This 50% graphic is only to cities and buttons, right? Cause maps you showed us are.... you know what...

Of course there are many more programmes to making games, but i prefer them + AGS ;) First is to making RPG games, next to ANY games and last is able to make Adventure Games (many is type: Escape the Room).

Good luck with this project, must be a pain to code something like a RTS.
I advise you to spend some time on the Critics Lounge, the guys over there (like Ben) are good artists and always willing to help.

Some updated screenies:







Some job was done to improve the main backgorund appareance and still working on it. Now adding alpha blended sprites and GUIs (even with some troubles we are fixing now) A lot of sounds and music also added to create a better environment (almost all it ripped from comercial games  ::) until we change it) Adding flags to let the player choose different countries (Spain, Venezuela and USA until now; soon Germany, England, France and Canada)

We uploaded the Pre-release version if anyone want help with coments/sugerences. It is totally playable but with some limitations:

- There is no finish: We are updating the mode: Standard (just conquer the enemy capital) or Conquest (control every city in the game)
- You start with 900K of gold  ;D (good for beta testers)
- Level selection not working yet (AI plays at level 1)
- Is totally in spanish but there is no much you need understand (anyway, help GUI is fully functional)
- Only 3 flags to select
- Units are not animated yet (and some views still looks bad)
- Water units not included yet (its the next step)

MMM, When I played I thougth that the Example map is so limited to understand the game withouth playing a lot of boring time Assaulting all the map to finally get in combat.

In any case, more than RTS, is militar administration wargame, in real time, but, name it RTS...I don't know.

In any case, with the things of the game I see, To be interesting maybe needs more interesting graphics.

We are working on it, adding alpha channels and improving  sprites and buttons. Also, the IA routines reached 4000 lines of code,so you can imagine that we improve it a lot.

I tried to play a second time, and well, with the Research of Spies know I see the enemy bases and is an advance. The case theres is NO help of anytype, a simply namepopup of the button is no help. The player need to realize the use of everything by his way,

And the "all money" cheat isn't useful to understand how the final game works, how you need to administrate the upgrades, (global science and local administration) in way to can buy a decent army. The "all money" cheat makes difficult to understand the techdemo.

Talking about another things... Have you thought in use a Freeware resource as the Maps Tilesets of the Rpgmaker? (Included the last ones, Rpgmaker XP or better). Are a free tilesets to use to make good maps can you help a lot, maybe not to the final version but yes to make good graphics before a total personal release.

Finally, I find that the Techdemo have no objective. I don't know how could be the final game, the game options, and that. but in the tech demo is a question of map and inspiration.

Is a unreal map (that can better a lot with the rpgmaker tileset, as an example) with citys all around the world will get no sense.

If I play the game, And I see a "reproduction" of Germany, and the cities are real, I can get the personally objective to Conquer all Germany, and the game gets a lot of interest. But Conquer a strange map in a strange world with Philadelphia and Minsk at 200 km/h, its not inspiring. Fantastic maps is too useful, but in some way it has sense. The actual map isn't have sense.

I don't know if I'm wrong with that cause is only a techdemo, but I speak what I see in the technical demo.

You may thing... "It's a techdemo about the Game System". Yes, Is it. But with no objective, all money cheat... I can't talk about the game system. I need to see a good game with objective and some challenge to talk about if the interface, the game system, is good or not.



Well, When I say that isn't a RTS, more a wargame of administration,of course Isn't and adventure xD I din't say any of that.
The thing is that you announce the game as a RTS, and the original idea what we have as a RTS is Starcraft. This game is more like a conceptual Panzer General War map in real time xD

The uploaded file is only a pre-release of the game, just to get opinions. All ponits you mention are under review:

- Extensive help (optionally you can turn it off)

- Final map is real-based and BIGGER.

- Objetive is beat the CPU (taking its capital or all the world, depending the game mode.)

- The money cheat is only for testing purposes. Actually, i removed it and added a keys combination to get money (will be removed too for the final version.. or maybe not)

Thanks for the comments and feel free to add whatever else you want add. Soon a new review will be uploaded with more things finished.

EDIT Actually, im trying to balance the cost of the technologies since the actual cost is too expensive. I just played a +3 hour game against the CPU at top difficult level and i was unable to develop the first one... and i was unable to win  :( Probably i will reduce the costs.

A complete version of the game engine is ready

Updates from last file:
- City GUI will always show in the same position (left down corner)
- Minimap is always visible and clickable (right down corner)
- Difficult level is fully functional (try to beat level 5!!  ;))
- More graphics ripped to give a more profesional aspect.
- Now the game finish when you conquer all citys (still need include final animations and that stuff)
- Left shift added to fast units creation
- Right-click added to attack functions. (still working with right-clicks  :()

Also, the script was simplified to allow the campaigns mode (which will be also included in the final release) and random maps (also in the final release).

What you need know to play this beta:
- LEFT SHIFT + F2 = 10k Gold
- LEFT SHIFT + F3 = 10k Science
- F1 = Show CPU Resources
- LEFT CLICK OVER CITYS = Show the city buildings and status.
- The battle formula have an already know BUG: When you improve your defense a lot, you win free units when fighting (i checked the 100 lines of the formula but i dont find the error so i will wait until i have a better day  :=)
