It's nice to be wanted, although you were kidding, so I'm pissed ;)

Let's not get off topic now...and I'm supposed to be the moderator...  ::)

Any questions from anybody about the game at all? (not directed at the staff but to the readers and possible fans (besides Yuffy)...harhar)

How many people worked on the project?

How long did it take?

What inspired you to make this game?

Approximately how many hours gameplay?

Can we have a sneak preview of the type of puzzles found in this game?

Quite naturally, this leads to my next question, can I come and live with you?

QuoteHow many people worked on the project?
Currently there are 5 people working on it:
Me
Squinky
Rincewind
Vel
Loominous - Original Soundtrack

QuoteHow long did it take?
It's not done yet.

QuoteWhat inspired you to make this game?
That's a good question. Years ago during school, I was helping a friend out with a writing assignment. She had to come up with an original idea and write a short story. It had to include a golden harp though. So I came up with this idea where this magic harp sat next to a small pond in some uncharted area in the woods. The main character stumbles upon this harp looking for his lost dog. He ends up strumming a few notes. The water started to bubble slightly and being curious, the main character gets in the water and swims under to see where it was coming from. But instead of hitting bottom when he merged into the muck and seaweed, he mysteriously hits air and surfaces in another world...which is very similar to what happens in this game.
So the portal in the water idea originated from this story.

Another thing that inspired this game would be some desktop background I had for a while that I put on there from the internet. It was just a simple picture of the sky with the stars over the ocean. The color was a mix of black and blue with the sun just dissapearing completely, it was awesome. I love stars anyway to begin with. I found myself from time to time just staring at it...it gave me a feeling of escaping and just getting away from everything, being alone and relaxed with no cares...almost as if I went to another place and never had to come back. I wish I saved that picture, it was great.

The Legend of Leitor's Edge is a combination of my dreams, fantasys, fears and imagination.

QuoteApproximately how many hours gameplay?

QuoteCan we have a sneak preview of the type of puzzles found in this game?
It's too early to tell, but you can expect:
Riddles
Action Sequences
Few waiting puzzles
Time Limit
Traps/Dropping items in specific places
Combining inventory items with others
Maze Puzzles - Would making decisions that branch the story and alter future events be considered a kind of maze puzzle?

QuoteQuite naturally, this leads to my next question, can I come and live with you?
Most definately.

Rincewind

Snake, the stuff looks excellent - I managed to get some small ideas down last night and sent it to you. Hope you like it.

And this whole story mapping thing has got me inspired too - I think I'll do somthing similar when planning my next game... Hehe... ;D

Squinky

You guys do know that Snake lives in my old Dodge dart, right?

Anyway, I love your answers to yuffys questions, and I love all the stuff you sent me, but It may be a few days before I get to write you back on it....

Also, I've got a new email address ever since I was haxxored, it's
squinkyproductions@yahoo.com....(<---put there so some bot will grab it and start sending me hair removal spam)

Boop.

Snake

You chump. har har.
Rincewind and I have traded a couple very good ideas that'll be something to "evolve" upon, but I'll wait until you send me your feedback before I send out the list again.

They include new news dealing with Matt, and Seth's bike being the only bike left on Leitor's Edge when he returns.... more info on these subjects when I hear your views.

Rock on snake, I'm dying to start work on this game with you....

I'm really pleased to know that this game is still in progress.  I've been looking forward to it for quite a while, and hopefully now with a fuller team, work should be more consistent.  Good luck guys.

Wow, this game sounds like... great! Can't wait for it to be done. Snake, do you still need out-of-team beta testers? I'd like to help with that.
None shall pass!

Yeah, when the time comes I'll let you know :)

Very small update:
I came up with an awesome riddle today. It revolved around a puzzle I had previously came up with. It fits great. I should have an updated LE Ideas List for the staff tonight.

Im back, so I guess I'll send you some more stuff these days.

Harvester

Btw, how big the game is going to be (roughly)? I mean the file size.

I'm not sure. It's hard to tell. 2 major factors:

1. The game's resolution is 320x240 which is small, but the game is in highcolor (can't be arsed to learn how to deal with palettes to make it 256, but I like the more graphics options you get with using high color.

2. The soundtrack will consist of all MP3 music. I plan on the music being a seperate download, so doing that should help with file size.

Something else that'll take space is WAVs, which will of course be used for SFX.

Yo, Snake. Here's the quick easy answer to using 256 color palettes.

right click and save the picture below as a bitmap BMP.

load your game in ags.
go to palette screen and set game to 256 color.
select a range of slots (select the first open color slot and hold down shift to choose the last slot)
uncheck this color is room dependant.
select import slots from file. select the palette BMP. (you should now have colors in some slots.) select the remaining slots and make them as room dependant.

the hard part - you might have to re-import your graphics in sprite manager. you might also have to decrease their color depth to 256 color (8-bit) with a graphics program first.

this will, however, reduce that filesize dramatically.

just a suggestion.  hope it helps, i know i hated palettes before i used this wierd procedure.

Snake

ESF: Hey thanks! I'll look into that when shit starts to get tied together... I might, not sure. There's always those transparency effects I like...so we'll see ;)

UPDATE:
I've sent the new list to the staff and I've got a small three part assignment for you all :)
