I haven't looked at this thread in awhile and I see alot of progress with your character designs.  Looking at the fisherman though, I don't think jeans would suit him.  Most fisherman that are serious about what they do wear baggy white/brown pants with plenty of free pockets for spare line, etc or have them tucked into tall rubber boots (if they stream fish).  If he's just a dullard that fishes casually then it looks fine, though.  The Automatic Attorney looks great, btw.

Thanks prog, it's something i didnt think about but ill look into it, the reason i didnt go for 'waders' was because i've already got a character with similar gear. I just finished the bg from the concept on the previous page, but i dont want to post itbecause i dont want to spoil everything in the game :p

Quote from: DanClarke on Fri 20/01/2006 22:31:40haha, i see what you mean, it's probasbly confusing to anyone else other than myself. I can't say too much but there is actually an entrance on the right, i have sort of painted a highlight for a path but it's hard to see, the final edit will make this more apparent.

Well, that's good. I hope you make it as unconfusing as possible ;). Good work.

You already finished the background for the last concept? Well, I hope it came out well and comprehensible.

Hey there. I've been following this game and reading this thread since the first piece of artwork for it hit the scene. I have however only visited these forums as a guest. I finally decided today I should sign up and post some support for this project!

It really seems to be shapeing up to be something special. You can tell by the detail and time spent on the artwork and from the way you go about talking about it. It's a project of love...and because it's not being rushed I think the quality and love will shine through!

You really do have a fantastic art style and it reminds me of many fond memories playing the old Lucasart adventures...Great stuff!

Anyways, really thats all I wanted to say! I always enjoy the updates and to be honest I'm suprised you haven't set up any kind of website to keep people informed of progress...I guess it all comes down to time really. I think it would be neat though to one day see a beautiful site full of updates on progress, concepts, teaser artwork and test animations etc. and when the game is eventually complete it would be home to the release.

Oooh I'm rambling again. Must calm down.

Good luck with everything and I hope you see this out to its conclusion! I shall check back regularly in the vague hope of spotting something new here!?!

Laters for now!

P.S. I have to say I am also very fond of the girls ole hat :D it gave her lots of character but alas kinda made her look REALLY young. Hope it manages to find its way back into the game sometime in some form or another!

edit by Darth - posts combined.  Do not double post.

Hey all, an update with some info and changes ill be making:

-Due to mass public demand, gloria WILL get her hat back, i think you were all right in that she seemed a little soul-less without it. I'm also giving her some design tweeks to make her sprite a little more interesting in terms of posture etc. and ill post those up in the future.

-Ive started work on an intro movie to the game, which will basically be a cutscene style video which exaplins how Gloria ends up where she does etc. Ill try and get this hosted within the next month, work permitting.

-Contrary to popular belief, i AM working on animation! Here's a rough gloria walk test i've done, just to prove i dont waste ALL of my time drawing backgrounds with ridiculous amounts of blue in them!

I appreciate everyones patience, and i'm contunuing to work on the game and make it as good as i possibly can.

Ah, a 6 frame animation? It's a good choice for a comical low res game. DOTT also had those, if I remember right.

Your sketches are looking great. Can't wait to see some in-game screenshots. Keep it up!

Yes! Yesyesyes!! Hat's back!! Yaaay ;D

The pro-hat interest groups achieve another victory!  :)

Excellent...

And....

he's back! With an update! Yes! And not even Darth can stop him! ;D

As you know, Dan, we're all looking forward to your game.

Great stuff dan! Keep on working :)

ildu

Sounds absolutely fabulous. Great to hear that the hat is back, although I really didn't have an opinion on it.

I like that blue! That blue is pretty damn relaxing actually :D

ildu

I agree. It's totally the most recognizable trademark of the game.

ManicMatt

The hat returns!

Imagine if Sam Fischer from splinter cell had never worn those iconic three light green nightvision goggles! (that for some reason the bad guys can't see)

Hey Dan, good to know you're still making steady progress with your game. Of course you know that I'm one of your "fans". I've been following your game-in-production thread here for a long time and I eagerly await to see your game in action.

Happy to know you've decided to bring back "The Hat", as I think she looks more "cute" with it too.

*Cracks Whip* Now, "Get back to work on your project, you slacker!"  ;D Heheh...
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."

Great news :D Hoorah for the hat!

The intro cutscene idea sounds really good. In my head it looks just like the intros to Sam n Max or Day of the Tenticle...just with a little girl and a crazy hotdog costume guy rather than tenticles or manic rabbit thing!

Keep up the great work, here's hopeing for another news update soon!

This game is gonna totally slap the cat's ass!
I can't wait.

The story rocks and the art is farking unreal, I love it, it pulled me right in...

--EDIT--
The only thing that'll tweak my nipples the wrong way is when I click on download and I find out it's 22+ mb...
...damn dialup :'(

What happened to the good ol' days when each game was about 7 hundred something KB, anyway??
;)

I'd hate for Dan to leave something out because the download was exceeding 20 megs. If you don't have a good connection, just spend more time downloading it. This game will ultimately be worth it. I remember downloading many bigger files when I had dial-up, some 6 years ago :). And if that doesn't work out, there'll be ways to get around it. For example, you could download it at a school/work/library/friend's house and burn onto a CD, or you could ask someone to split the file into archives and download them individually. I really don't see a problem unless the size exceeds some 100 megs. For myself, it's no problem if it exceeds 10 gigs, but I understand many still struggle with bad connections.

Here's a wild idea: if you've got dial-up and there's no possibility to download the game, download it on your mobile phone (if you've got a compatible one). Pretty much all phones that have come out here in Finland during the last few years supports it. Many people for example play LEC games via ScummVM on their mobile phones.
