I couldn't help but notice that the Mac version of MI1 used "graphics smoothing". (Example) My best guess is AGS is not capable of doing this. My question is, does anybody have a good idea on how to make sprites look like that? Any help is appreciated!

You gessed wrong. Check the filter setting in winsetup.exe.

Does anyone actually think artificial graphics smoothing looks better than the original art? Just wondering...

Depends on the art, obviously generally no. But it performs reasonably well on flat and outline based art I think. Any art that uses the slightest bit of pixel tech it damages, including Monkey Island. AGS does give you the option, which is a good thing I think.

Most people would look at that and see blobby undefined characters, MindUnderMatter. If you want smooth characters simply draw them at a higher resolution.

Yes, I know. However, I prefer it over the normal graphics. As I'm working on a game which won't be released, I decided I wanted to do something like it.
