when i finish drawing my character sprites, do i save it as...

PNG,
BITMAP 24,
GIF,

What?

Any of these are fine. AGS isn't picky when it comes to file formats. I'd recommend PNG though.

GarageGothic

I'd also recommend using PNG. It doesn't waste drive space (like BMP), doesn't limit the number of colors (like GIF) and supports alpha channel transparency in case you need that.

Do the tutorial. Especially the part about Views and Animations.

Dualnames

JPG should be banned. It's actually impossible to edit, it's big in size and it will really make your sprites look like poo. PNG should be ideal.. and it works with MSpaint. ;D
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Khris

JPG is perfect for photos, and it's not big in size due to the compression that creates all the artifacts with fixed-palette art.

Are you sure you've drawn over the player character? The one that is selected to be the player character.

Can you do us a favor? Make a room that is completely filled by a walkable area, place your characters coordinates on it, and in the room. (You could do this to the currently scripted starting room)

And yes, PNG all the way...but that question is not for this beginners Tech forum. But since it has evolved into a new question, this thread will stay here.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

If the character is on a walkable area, make sure you've got all your loops and character settings done properly, and make sure your mouse mode is set to walk.

I like TGAs myself, but I'm just used to using TGAs at work..

Swordwielder dug this out after 1.5 months. The problem appears to have been solved, but with louis, it's kind of hard to tell since he never gets back to his threads.
