I checked the faqs, but I can't quite get it. I want to enter a sprite into my game. I changed the sprite from Jpg to bmp. I manage to get it into the sprite manger area or cursor area but I can't get it into my game.

Stumbled to solution by clicking on sprite and transferring it to view. However, my sprite is outlined by white dots. How do I clean up my spirte.

Yes I did. I will run it again to find the anti-laising box. I also downloaded a copy of the demo builder from emule. It is cool.

Candle, I have Adobe 6.0. I have looked everywhere for the anti-laising box and I can't find it. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks to you, I have learned to use the clipboard to transfer sprites into my game.

Unfortunately my sprite is still surrounded by white dots.

The reason for the white dots is that these pixels are not the same color as the background color.

AGS turns the background color (the color in the upper left corner, usually) transparent. It doesn't turn any other colors transparent.

Probably your sprite is on a white background, but the "white dots" aren't completely white.

There are two possible reasons why these dots are not background color:

JPG noise: If your sprite was originally a JPG, there's some noise in the picture from the compression. Some background pixels therefore aren't completely white.

Antialiasing: If the white dots are mostly around the edges of your character, it's probably because many drawing tools don't have perfectly sharp edges. They affect pixels next to the ones you're trying to draw on. If you use smudge or scaling, you're going to leave traces of color just outside the edges of your sprite.

In either case, you need to clean up the background. Do a paintbucket on the background with a color that isn't in your sprite (bright pink or bright green, for instance). You'll see some dots of white remain. Select all the dots, and use the paintbucket to fill them in.

Make sure you don't save it in JPG format. Renaming a JPG file to .BMP or .PNG isn't good enough. You need to save it in the right format in the paint application.

Snarky, thanks!! I see what you mean by all of the white spots. I was able to select the paintbucket. Wow were there a lot of small dots. You said to select them and fill. I could seem to select them. Anymore hints.

In Photoshop, use the lasso tool (top left). Circle the dots to make a selection (hold down the SHIFT key to select several things). Make sure to not select any part of your sprite. Press the DELETE key to erase the selected regions. Switch to the paintbucket tool. If the active foreground color is different from the color of your background, hold down ALT to use the eyedropper tool, click somewhere on the background, let go of ALT, then press X to switch the active foreground and background colors. Click in each selected region to fill it with the foreground color.
