What do you use for creating room backgrounds?

It may sound strange, but I don't know what I should use for creating room bg's.   A paint program really doesn't look pro.
Any suggestions?
I really would appreciate it.

That may have been a bit harsh, but it is covered in the rules what type of questions belong in the Beginner's Tech Forum. And this question doesn't belong here. Also, it's a very common question which I believe the resulting action is thread deletion (though it may just warrant a lock).

In any case, welcome to the forums. I'm not a mod or anything, but please try to consider your forum selection more carefully as this isn't a "technical" question at all.

I am a mod. The forum rules clearly say NOT To post this type of question here, so it's getting a lock. The thread monkey suggested is a good place to start, or try a forum search if you want more general discussion on methods/techniques.
