THE AGS COLORING BALL

So, what's the deal?
An image is supplied, and entrants color. A general theme is given, but it is optional. The winner hosts the next AGS Coloring Ball.

This week's sprite:

This week's theme:
No general theme. The Butterfly can be colored with realistic, unrealistic, psychedelic, piratey, sports clubey, or practically any other way, but definately not in all colors of rainbow! You have been warned.

This week's rules:
- max. 16 colors (+ transparent)
- competition ends at sunday 23rd. Exact time will be given later (maybe).

This week's prizes:
- three of the best (selected by me) will get a trophy to decorate their signature.
- and as always, winner gets to host the next competition

Haddas

Badoink.

16 colours + transparrency

Mikko

Although Haddas' coloring is stunningly beautiful, I'm expecting more entries to come.

If it's because the sprite is boring, then you have twice the reason to use your imagination and make it shine! ;)

So, dig up your crayons!

KristjanMan

I tryed to make something cool but it turned out like the regular crap i make...

Anyway this is a hell/heaven butterfly or something
14 colors+transparency
- They are all from AGS coloringball

As I know the butterfly can fly. It must be some kind of bird. So the must have feathers!

when i saw this picture i had to try something.

this is the result. well it's traced and if this isn't allowed then this ISN'T an entry and just for fun.Ã,  :)

ace monkey

i dont think it's very fair to trace an image so i personaly think that it shouldn't be allowed

sergiocornaga

This is the Coloring Ball, not the Sprite Jam. If tracers can't go here where can they go?

i know that its not the srite jam but if people are going to trace intricate and complex  designs and patterns then it isn't fair and it isn't even really their own work

ildu

Erm, what are you talking about? Do you mean Mikko's original spriteframe or the entries. If Mikko traced or drew the frame, I can't see how other people could trace colors from other sources. It wouldn't be called tracing, but research. On the other hand, if you're accusing Mikko of tracing, then I'd have to say the same thing as SergioCornada, "Coloring Ball, not the Sprite Jam."

MrColossal

He means Shade, ildu. Read Shade's post.

Anyway, isn't this just for fun? Shade had fun, awesome!
"This must be a good time to live in, since Eric bothers to stay here at all"-CJ also: ACHTUNG FRANZ!

ace monkey

i supose this is for fun but he says it was traced so i dont think it is fair but why dont we let Mikko decide?

Shade

since i am the "bad person" who did this i just want to quote this:
QuoteAnyway, isn't this just for fun? Shade had fun, awesome!
that's all there is to it. i did this for fun not to win something. and i think this shouldn't be discussed any further because if you think what i did was stupid then ignore it.
and now lets have FUN!Ã,  :D

This will end in about two-three hours. Any last entries?

I'll also get back to this tracing discussion later. :)

EDIT:

Okay, time is up. :)

We got six solid entries and it is time to select the top 3.

Before going there, though, a few words about tracing. I don't mind. In sprite jam it's different because you must create the whole sprite. In coloring ball it would be quite a hard to find a picture to trace from and it would require some changes anyway to look perfect. Anyway, Shade was honest with us form the beginning and that's the only way to be, nothing else matters. :)

Some words for everyone:
Haddas: As said before, beautiful. Good choice of colors.
KristjanMan: Imaginative idea, and the coloring isn't crap at all.
ace monkey: There is something messed up, since I get 109 colors (PSP) from your picture. That doesn't matter though, because this clearly would look as good with less colors.
Splavar: That truly is something we don't see in the nature, nice. :)
Yarooze: Well thought idea and excellent execution!
Shade: Would need more customizing to fit here comapred to original. Otherwise well found image.

...and some prizes for few:
3rd place and the winner of bronze butterfly : KristjanMan! (good idea)

2nd  place and the winner of silver butterfly : Haddas! (marvellous coloring)

1st  place and the winner of golden butterfly : Yarooze! (good idea & magnificient coloring)

Thanks for joining! Next one is held by Yarooze.

PsychicHeart

Before this is locked, i'd just like to extend my gratitude to the entrants of the last 3(?) Coloring Balls.
At first i really did not have much hope for it, but now it has become quite enjoyble to both entrants and wild hangers-on.
Also, yarooze, congrats. That's 2 coloring balls you have won!
Cheers,

I gotta agree. This turned out to be quite an enjoyable little comp. I'll enter the next Coloring Ball for sure :D.

yarooze

Thanx a lot boyz and girlz! Cool competition, cool entrys, cool trophys!Ã,  :=

I'll start the next as soon as possible.

to Flukeblake: This contest is really enjoyable. To make something special, without alter the sprite to much. That's fun...Ã,   8)
