Dervish

well I will do the classy thing and vote for myself Dervish.
Although I thought all of them were pretty good.

Not sure if i need to vote on all the categories or just consider which one fits all of them.

Idea: Dervish
Execution: Progzmax
Interface: EdLeon

or if just voting for one obviously I vote for Dervish

bobbinthreadbare

classy move, dervish.

i have them in this order:

execution: 1) progzmax -- super clean art, nice dialogue, looks fun.  idea not exactly original, but who cares, it's sherlock holmes; 2) nacho -- reminds me, maybe too much, of fate of atlantis, but well drawn; 3) dervish -- needs a little cleaning up, but the level of detail is really nice.

interface: 1) edloen -- you know, typing fits here.  you just need a good "Underwood" typeface and clacking noise; 2) svartberg -- looks like the interface is a bigger part of the game than in the others, and looks good to me, also reminds me of deja vu 2; 3) oddysseus -- i have no idea what's going on here, but the graphics remind me of Mickey's Space Adventure, awesome.

idea: 1) dervish -- definitely more new stuff there than in the others.  also, it helps that the character is basically saying the "idea" in the screenshot; 2) oddysseus -- again, what's going on here?  clowns?  invisible clowns?  well, i like it; 3) ok, progzmax, not a new idea, but more "idea" visible in this one than in the rest of them.

really nice work from everybody, i'm impressed.  thanks for sharing.

Nacho wins all...my votes except for best idea, which goes to Odysseus for mentioning clowns!

Cino

Interface: ProgZmax
Idea: Oddysseus
Excecution: Nacho

I could have voted Idea for Dervish, but since you already gave yourself a vote, I guess you don't need mine anymore ;)

Nacho

Thanks Prog ^_^. All my votes go to Prog, not for scratching his back back, but because I think he deserves it, except interface, which goes to Svartberg...
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Svartberg

Some really fun entries here, too bad I can't give everyone 1st place :)

Idea: ProgZmax
Execution: Nacho
Interface: Dervish

Idea: ProgZmax - A very good premise to create noir. The source isn't original, but I don't personally think that has any bearing on a mockup. The idea is good and it obviously would translate into an adventure game quite awesomely.
Execution: ProgZmax - Since the execution is tied to the idea, I voted for Prog. Well, it's not a longshot to say that his mockup was executed the best out of all.
Interface: EdLoen - A unique interpretation to the gui design (and the most clichéd setting ever :D).

I would've wanted to vote for Nacho, because I thought his bg was the best, but the categories didn't really support it. Maybe his mockup lacked a bit of story-telling, and his gui was pretty standard, so I didn't go for his execution or interface either. Good job, nonetheless :D!

Oddysseus

Well I wanted to vote for myself, but I really couldn't, with all these great entries trumping mine (plus I have no chance of winning now, anyway  :P).

Idea: ProgZmax.  Come on, it's animated and everything!

Execution: Nacho. I could really imagine playing this one.

Interface: Dervish.  The only interface that looked fresh and stylish. (Can't wait for the game!)

Yeah, that's the problem with these voting categories. I'm all ears for suggestions for better ones suited specifically for mockups.

Thanks to all the participants. The turnout was pretty good this round.

My gratitude is great.  Expect a new mockup competition at a sooner date.
