You're the lead computer artist in your game company. The concept artist has just sent you his newest sketch. Now it's up to you to make something useful out of it.

Basically you may change it however you like, alter the style or remove parts. Just colour it or make a brand new piece of art.

The concept sketch for these two weeks is:

Deadline: End of April

Vel

That competition idea seems cool, but can we have a whiter version of the sketch please?

Nacho

I don't see the problem, Vel, as the wiser way to make what Petter demmands should be using that painiting as the basic layer and go on over that... the darkness is no problem, and you cann allways make it brighter with your Painting program...

I am going to participate!
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Ok, as I said, it's up to you what to do with it...

Usually when colouring a piece it can be handy to have some sort of soft underlying hue to easier apply highlights and shadows afterwards, and to make sure no area has those annoying white glitches. Not necessarily as dark as mine was, though,

Thanks ElectricMonk, though, for showing your version.

Privateer Puddin'

I may give it a go(if you remember Andail, i once coloured one of your sketches?) time permitting

ElectricMonk

Erm, I meant "Here you go, Vel", not Andail. It wasn't meant to be a "version" as such...

I must say I have to give Migs props for his fast response time. With a colorizer like Migs on your team, you'll have a full-length adventure game done in no time. None of this dawdling business and slaving over drawings pixel-by-pixel.

It's always good to see what industry calls, "a quick start."

Hats off to you, Migs.

can anyone guess what style i was going in. it shouldnt be hard, although I did leave out a key thing in the sky that would give it away.
This is more like a preview of colors then a functional background, so I will take this another step if I have time.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

Also guys, could you please LINK to your images, instead of posting them in the thread. It's hell on us dialup users.

Here's mine:

1st version
This is the unfinished version without rock texture, etc.

Sorry for not puting it in a link, but It's only 13kb anyway.

Andail

Very well done so far, guys!

It's nice to see the progress of the images, it's after all an educational activity and not primarilly a contest. I hope to see many step-by-step tutorials afterwards :)

Colored in Paint Shop Pro.. Background layer is plain white, colors are on another layer, and the outline is in a layer on top of that with a multiply blending mode..

Domino
