WHAT?
Make a SONG in an HOUR, with a THEME.
WHEN?
6pm UK time.
WHERE?
In this THREAD and ON IRC.
WHO?
YOU, not ME. I'm setting the THEME.
WHY?
For FUN and the FUTURE.
WHORE?
Please CAMWHORE or BLOG.
WEB?
TerranRich's SHUTUPLOAD.
WHEE!

Ok, ok, some fine print. The theme will be set by the previous winner (that's me!) and announced here and on IRC at the beginning of the hour. You will have an hour to make the song, plus 15 minutes to render/mix and upload it. Making a song from scratch is strongly encouraged, but you can use at most one element used by other artists for instance a riff. Covers or songs you've made earlier are not accepted though. I can make a song too but it won't be voted on. I can make trophies though. Please don't use one of those upload sites with 30 second waiting periods and crazy popups. ShutUpLoad works, so just use it, unless you have your own hosting.

If you are busy on saturday and want to have an "early subission", post here!

I hope to be here tomorrow, cannot say for shure though. Thanks for re-booting this great competition, Wyz.

Wyz

I hope you can make it! There is already one (early) submission. The more folks the merrier! :D

On a side note: people that want to attend both the hoursong and hourgame will be granted 15 minutes extension for the hourgame.

Please post if you want to enter but have no IRC.
And more important: please enter.  :-[

Sorry, I can be at home in 30 minutes or so. Probably next week.

Kabukibear

I call this "The Mad Man's Lament," because I pictured some insane scientist hunched over the body of his loved one in his lab trying to bring her back to life.

I just tried going for something sad but also a little disturbed. I'm not very fast at composing so I had to cut it short to make it in time but hopefully you'll get an idea of what I was going for. Thanks!

As always I make a complete mess out of the contests. The theme was: Creepy/ eerie music

Here is Jon's entry: (early submission)

Was there any place where I could have seen the theme earlier? Looks like I have to take part in the next hoursoung competition.  :-\

Wyz

Yes, there was on IRC. I did not want to disclose the theme but rather send it by PM so people could enter late. Well, in hindsight it was not a very bright idea. Ohwell, next time better.

For now everyone step right up, it is time to:
Vote!
Life is like an adventure without the pixel hunts.

Bulbapuck

Excellent entries guys :D

My vote goes to Kabukibear because it has an insane production value for an hoursong, and it has an ending.

Great initiative getting this back Wyz! I would have joined both comps had I not been on a road trip this Saturday.

Bror_Jon

No, Bulbapuck what are you doing?! I'm suppose to win!   >:(

Anyways...
My vote also goes to Kabukibear. His song is very good. Spooked me for sure.

I officially love you good sir, Always and Eternally.

Bulbapuck

Sorry Jon :P

Your song was great though! It was definitely a difficult decision.

bicilotti

Excellent!

Kabukibear's entry is nicely developed, with a distinct intro/middle/end and wonderful instruments (yay for baroque).
Jon tune is very simple and enjoyable, it really adheres to the theme; unfortunately lacking a meaningful last part.

After hearing both tracks a couple of times I'm going to choose Jon, because it sounds way spookier.

Kabukibear

I'm gonna throw my lot in with Jon. It's easy to just vote for myself, but Jon's definitely sounds like something right out of a Sierra game so I can't not love it. XD

Wyz

it is very close, the songs are both very good. Kabuki really puts down a nice entry with classic horror influences. Jon has made a piece that give you the jitters, and that is exactly what it is supposed to do.
Well hmm, I think Jon gets my vote. But good show both of you!

Wyz

2 votes for Kabe, and 3 votes for Jon; We have a winner!

For you the Golden horn ghost, and the honor to host the next Hoursong -- jon_swe.

Ofcourse there is also the Silver horn ghost for the runner up -- Kabukibear:

Bror_Jon

Yay! I won!  ;D

Thanks everyone for voting, thank you Kabukibear for competing and
thank you Wyz for hosting(+ the awesome trophies)!
