> BARGAIN with the lady, telling her the current state of our finances; and after settling to an appropriate price: ORDER her to design a fashionable yet classy set of clothes. If she refuses to bargain, TACTFULLY TELL her to come back next year.

(Since the lady is quite a beautiful one, we should definitely make her one of our several wives. Plus, that way, we'll get a free tailor for the lifetime too! :P )

Hmmm, the Skyrim approach, marry a a nice-looking girl who happens to own a business. By the way, we should convince WHAM to make some sort of leveling up system, where our actions would add XP or something along with objectives, no?

Never played Skyrim. But now that you mention it, I'll make sure to play it asap. :) Also, I agree with the XP system.

...and we should not tell her the current state of our finances, that's none of her business. We're the king, and we have a reputation to lose.

I completely agree. Broadcasting that kind of information to the random traveler is just asking for trouble.

WHAM

You attempt to haggle the price, and after a while you manage to get the price down to 40 silvers.
The lady artisan doesn't seem very pleased with the deal, but approves it anyway.

"As you will it, My King, your new clothes shall be done by dawn the day after tomorrow. Do you have any wishes on colour or style, some specific detail you would enjoy, perhaps?" -she asks.

Yes, please:

> At least one set of clothes should be PURE BLACK. As for the design: a long silky cloak (preferably black or red) should be a mandatory part for all the sets of clothes. Make sure that the clothes are classy. That's all. Now go and surprise us with your superior and elegant skills of fashion designing.

Hmmm, flame-printed black cloaks. Sounds like a good idea! ;-D

miguel

So we are buying new clothes! Great.

> We wish for the finest design ever, and black can never go wrong, so make them pure black with a long silky cloak (can be red as well) and flame-embroidered  motifs in places where the eyes of the ladies will devour our muscular body. Surprise us!

"I see..." -she mutters, clearly alreadly planning your future clothes in her mind.

"I'm sure you will be pleased with the result, My King. I shall return the day after tomorrow so you may fit the new clothes."
The lady artisan prepares to leave. You spy a familiad spiky-haired figure in the doorway of your throne room.

The travelling artisan takes her leave and heads off to plan your new clothes.
As she leaves, DENNIS from the traders guild approaches.

"Hail My King. I bring news from one of the small villages to the east. The people of the village have faced with an unexpected flood and it seems they will be having little or no harvest this year. Since midsummer and soon thereafter the harvest approaches, the people there are worried and have sent word, pleading for help in order to secure their survival in the winter times.

The villagers ask that we send grain and vegetables from the town granary to supply them with rations for the winter. This would decrease our food reserves in town by about a fifth, so it would pose only a minor risk to our own stocks even if we have a bad harvest. In exchange the villagers have gathered all of their belongings and have estimated that they can sell their valuables and give the resulting 100 silvers (or one gold) to the crown.

I have spoken with Cat of the farmer's union and she thinks that the risk is small and that the people in the villages need to be fed in any case. The decision in yours, my King. Do we accept the trade?"

I were thinking the same i.e about refusing the payment. What a great, planned out idea indeed! That way, we'll have more advantage instead of some cash!
