I think you've got a nice clean style and I'd not go overly crazy with the shadows.
The wrong perspective of the foreground (desk etc.) is not that noticeable in my opinion, but the perspective of the hallway leading to the exit is way of (as Tuomas has already shown you). The eye automatically gets drawn to it, although the exit should not be the main focus.

I also think the ceiling could be doing with a darker shade and the walls with some more features.
I've done a little paintover to give you some pointers:

Apart of some incorrets vanashing points, everything seems good to my mind.

i've thought about adding potted plants or something. im just trying to imagine what the reception of a mental institute would look like

the color of the line looks rather weird IMO, maybe make it dark purple

i think the exit door is too small.
considering the height of where the message board is, and that it seems to be at an eye level(taking into account the size of the computer, etc) the exit door should be bigger

the rest looks very nice

Is it just me or does the pink line seem...weird. It's probably because it doesn't have an outline... Like the camera though. :)

Same thing, the pink is something strange.

Regarding the camera, looking good.

Pling!

I think the camera angle is not very useful to the watchmen.

Indeed, maybe point it towards the door etc. where the receptionist can't see. It's a bit crooked as well, isn't it.

Oh, and what also came to mind is, that what I've seen mental asylums, the receptionists are often behind this if not a glass or a plastic, a counter, which is the case here. Yet the computer for example is ALWAYS so that an outsider can't see it. Maybe you could turn it a bit. Oh, and add an internal asylum phone or something. Where I live, receptionists are always in this box and yuo speak to them through this window... And then, colours like green and white are mostly used in such places due to the calm and clean effect they are considered to have. Just some things that came to my mind, think about them, and hmm, the perspective still bothers me a bit.

It's not like I'm an expert at coloring but this method seems to work for me using Photoshop.
I first put the "hue/saturation" filter on the top layer (with the saturation set to zero)(so the pic is seen as grayscale). Then I adjusted the lightness/darkness of EACH color using the hue/saturation masks to try and balance the values. I then tweak the hue and saturation.
Here's a few variations I came up with. I hope they can give you some ideas.
grayscale
green
purple
