Inside the spaceship & 3 Aliens

Hello everybody.

I just wrap paintin' the background up and I need some criticism.



Asaide from room background I was drew these guys:

And here you are. Everybody in the spaceship:

What do you think about it? Criticize please.

PS. The size of the black zones in those 2 images of the spaceship may be diffrent but It's a little variation

Please, convert images to gif or png format before diplaying them here. The reason is a big difference in the image's filesize. The BG you posted has 300kb, when in png format it would probably take up around 30kb.

If you need a good host for your sprites, I suggest using Photobucket.com.

Then you can use the following code to display them here:

although it's not that necessary since an album with your images and BB codes for them will be generated.

Now for the crits:

Background:

First select a light source (or a few of them) and shade accordingly. You might want to ditch the black outlines by replacing them with a darker shade of a color nearest to them. You could also add some of the following to fill the space up:
-chairs
-pipes
-rivets
-panels
-wires
-use your imagination for more

Characters:

I suggest moving their lightsource right above them, that way you'll get mostly consistent shading on most backgrounds. The thing about black outlines applies here too.
I like how you drew their bodies, but the heads seem a bit too big. If you're going for a cartoony comical style, that's ok.

Also, you're using saturated colors, here's an image to explain what I mean:



Experiment when picking colors and draw out your palette at a side when working with sprites, that helps a lot.

I like the aliens much! 
The background doesn't seem to be complete.. it seems to me its cut in 2 halfs.. and only the above half is viewable.. looks fine tho..

About the aliens; make the outsides of the aliens a darker color of the insides.. that always works better on sprites then just black outlines.. i always used black outlines as well.. but the guys here tought me darker color of the inside is way better! Try it out and be amazed!

Hey guys, thanks for your criticism

Sorry for the links and bmps but I isn't matter that I don't know how to do it but I just havn't got much time. Now I havn't got much time too, so you'll not saw the images at forum (But the truth is that I was first put here images in bmp and I saw the funny picture with "I'm with stupid" txt (or something like this) )

Ow, and the host thing - I use my own server and I don't want to change him

I'm still workin' on the background - and I'll thought about your sugestions.
I'm go for the holidays (at the moment ), so I'll worry about that later.

The aliens are in cartoon style and size of their hads are intended (fi number )

When I'll back than I'll put here the updated version.
