Do you think this room looks too empty? Should I add more furnitures?

Barbarian

Your game looks promising so far from what you've shown.
I look forwards to seeing it in action.

That last room.. well, I suppose it all depends on the effect you're looking for.
But, you could always add something like a lamp or some or item to sit on the little table?
And how about some kind of painting hanging on a wall.  And, unless the windows is going for the 'blinds' type of style, perhaps an old curtain hanging there.. of course the curtain can be open to reveal the window.

I dunno, just some quick thoughts if you're looking to add something else in that room  :)
Conan: "To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of the women!"
Mongol General: "That is good."

Not a bad thing, perhaps, but at the moment, to me, it looks quite like a train cabin. You know, add a parcel shelf on either side and you've got it really. I think it's because the room maybe looks too elongated. Perhaps it should be less deep? And as Barbarian said, some furniture or wall decorations would help.

Other than that, I've been loving the style of these backdrops so far. It's very fitting for a horror style game.

You should do some live-action of yourself, greyscale it and turn up the contrast. That'd look good for the main character. Sorry, just looking at your avatar and getting whacky ideas.

One thing I will say: If you want help with your English don't hesitate to contact me. I'll do my best to make it sound as authentic and dramatic as possible. This project interests me.

I saw your screenshots and I saw the one where there is a gun and you are aiming at someone. Now I don't know if you are, but are you gonna try to manage a first person shooter on some parts of this game?

Gord10

No, it won't be an action/adventure game for now. But it used to be an action/adventure game in the beginning. I have removed the action scenes from the game, because it sucked (You were trying to shoot (or click) a static monster, which doesn't move, in 1-2 seconds; and it was really boring). I'll remove that screenshot

Hello again :)
I couldn't work on my game project for a while; because I had just upgraded my PC and played the games like Max Payne 2, Silent Hill 2/3 which I couldn't play before (because of my old system). But I'll hang on the game now  8)

How about this?

If that's a bed on the left amd it's supposed to have sheets on it, you may want them hanging over the edge of the mattress a bit.

Not Yet

As I was looking through some of the screenshots on your site, I happened to notice the lowest shot, with the character aiming with a revolver... I suppose you can die in the game? Anyways, it just came to my mind, that perhaps you could make nightmare scenes were you are able to die, but if you die, you just wake up, but could lose some hints or something, as you do not advance that far in the dream... That might be a bit hard to manage though... Maybe...

1,000 hours

if that could be pulled off it would be excellent.

I think I should finish the demo soon. I've developed two other full games since I started the demo  :-[  ;D.
By the way; do you think I should go on making Lost In The Nightmare after the demo, or start the game Asporia: The Betrayal (working title)? Because I think Asporia was better, and it's easier to develope as it's a RPG and there are lots of scenes that repeat.

Update: I need comments about some backgrounds/artworks from the game. I'm not sure if these screenies looks good.

It's an abandoned, empty train station.

Changed the main character a bit.

The office room of the main character.

And forest in the morning. It's cloudy.

I have already decided to finish Lost In The Nightmare, because lots of people liked the demo, and the demo is going to be published with some game magazinesÃ,  8) Guess the game will be released till the summer.

The train station looks too dark in my monitor. Great work in general though :)

Ozwalled is Lazy

Unless the station itself is the only used part of the background, it's too dark for me too.

Also, the sky of the forest picture looks awfully... um... dotted? It's driving me nuts.

Otherwise, they're very nice. They give me a very nice "Alone in the Dark" feel.

Gord10

Thanks :) What about these?

One of the important characters, near the lake.

I have changed the color depth of the game to 32 Bit, btw.

it's hard to tell on these last ones because you saved them as jpg. Can you update them with the png version like your other pics?

Gord10

Guess better now. I wanted to give a foggy, gray effect like in Silent Hill.

The sky's INFINITELY easier to look at than in that forest one from before.

*cough cough*

Firstly, I should apologise for necroposting this 3 years old topic. I had thought of starting a new topic, but I was still unsure if I should had continued from this topic or start a new one, as the thing I will ask for critique and comments are the same things.

Well, the game to be discussed had already been released. But I wanted to revise its graphics and release a new version this year. This is the reason of this necropost, to have your critiques about the revisions.

Let me present you some examples of the revised graphics.

As you see, I am changing the shadow/highlight and hue/saturation values and adding some extra filters like Diffuse Glow.
I want to give a dark, film-noiristic but still dreamy ambience to the game.

What do you think about this improvement? Any C&C is welcome.
Thanks in advance ;)

Hey Ahmet, good to see you're going through with this. Now, about the improvements, I really dig the new style. It definetly is an improvement, but the fact remains that it's half life 1. I realise that these are mostly alterations to the old backgrounds, and not newly taken hammer-shots or how ever you made them,  but it's still half life 1. For example, maybe you could replace mister Polaski's hands with new photoshopped ones.

A quick example:

And on some of the models used the texture placing was not that great.
Take Cagri's picture here for example, maybe you can polish those inconsistencies away.
For example like so, another quicky:

Things I've done in the above picture:
- changed cagri's glasses and added a white-glassy look where the glasses are.
- tried to polish the texture inconsistencies away.
- added some very light shading underneath the table and chairs.
- added a strong shadow of Cagri.

Hope this gives you some ideas, looking forward to the re-release  :)
