OK, although my Afro Jones demo has been out for a bit now, the only comments left on the Games in Production forum were to the effect of "Wow, that was awesome" etc.  This is a great ego boost, but unfortunately it doesn't really tell me what I have to improve upon.  It's my first time using AGS and I'd just like to know how it is through a critic's eye.  Rip me apart, why don'tcha?  You can download the demo here (3.8 MB).

You have to right click and pick "save target as."

Thanks :)

Hehehe, made me smile!
One thing though: *cough*copyrightinfringementproblems*cough*

Crits:
Nice style. Simple but effective.
The blonde bikini dancer has some skin colour problems. I think in one or two frames her skin colour is different making it flash a little. You shoiuld clean that up.
The fighting onoematopea (Thoki, whoop, whatever it was) look too simple. Make these more dynamic and, well, better.
The last scene...seems slightly odd. Perspective problems. Or the judge (??) has a massive head?

Keep it going. Looks very cool.
(and get some free music from somewhere)

I think its not so much the skin color as the way the legs move in the animation with the dancers.

I think overall it was very creative and sure as hell very funny. I liked some of the cinematic split-screen effects you used.

The judge is kind of huge... I understand that you want him to be the 'looming authority figure' in the background.. but still. It seems a little inconsistent with the rest of the characters. Regardless of style, consistency makes a game look more professional.

In any case.. it accomplished the most important part of what a demo should do.. I want to see more. lol. Good luck.

Just a little tip: When the guy shoots with the pistol, the gun flame/big yellow thing starts from small to big. That would make the gun shot look really...well, not real. My suggestion is that you use the biggest shot in the first frame, then 1(or 2, if you think that looks better) small shot. If you know what i mean. You could also make the character a bit more light in the first frame when he shoots, that would make it even more realistic.

Thanks for the tips, guys.  I'll try to spruce it up for the final game.

As for the "judge" (Big Ed, who's not a judge but a sergeant who's there to file out reports):  he's supposed to be much much much bigger than anyone else.  It leads up to a funny sight gag later on.  You'll see :)

And I'm fixing the last background because I know it sucks.  It'll be more consistent with the style.

Anything else I should change?
